The monarchy is quite a good guarantor of democracy. Separating the head of government from the head of state looks increasingly like a good idea, when one looks across the Atlantic, for example.Rest in peace, Elizabeth II.

Yes, that passage from Ecclesiastes is commonly read at Anglican funerals. It hits the spot.I'm not much on quoting 'scripture' but ...
For everything there is a season, A time for every activity under heaven.
This seems to be the time to mourn the death of Elizabeth II or, at the very least, treat those who do with sensitivity and, perhaps, deference.

I just feel the need to post this.
ALMIGHTY God, whose kingdom is everlasting, and power infinite: Have mercy upon the whole congregation, and so rule the heart of thy chosen servant Elizabeth, our queen and governor, that she (knowing whose minister she is) may above all things seek thy honour and glory; and that we her subjects (duly considering whose authority she hath) may faithfully serve, honour, and humbly obey her, in thee, and for thee, according to thy blessed Word and ordinance; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who with thee and the Holy Ghost liveth and reigneth ever one God, world without end. Amen.
ALMIGHTY and everlasting God, we be taught by thy holy Word, that the hearts of kings are in thy rule and governance, and that thou dost dispose and turn them, as it seemeth best to thy godly wisdom: We humbly beseech thee, so to dispose and govern the heart of Elizabeth, thy servant, our queen and governor, that in all her thoughts, words, and works, she may ever seek thy honour and glory, and study to preserve thy people committed to her charge, in wealth, peace, and godliness. Grant this, O merciful Father, for thy dear Son's sake, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Nothing says taste like performative grief for the matriarch of one of Earth's great villainous dynasties.Poor taste, sorry.
Excuse me, but the grief is very real.Nothing says taste like performative grief for the matriarch of one of Earth's great villainous dynasties.
You knew her?Excuse me, but the grief is very real.
Of course not, but there are many kinds of grief. This is an ancient tradition and performed by many societies. There's no need for stupid politicking right now.You knew her?
