In the words of Woody Allen: "Its not that Im afraid of death, I just dont want to be there when it happens."

Im comfortable with not existing. Its the same as before I was born. Im not comfortable with how I will die. I hope that when I do, I am right. I will live on earth as spirit to help my family, becoming an "ancestor" as they are to me.

My last thought would be

I rather laugh with the sinners than cry with the saints

you lean to the rebellious?
not that I believe in conformity.

I do believe a change of life will happen for those able and willing.
I also believe Someone will be in charge.

a simple meditation exercise.

but for this occasion.....consider it may be your last.
you don't get to inhale.....ever again

and the first thought that comes to mind?
First thing to pop in my head was the Jesus Prayer in German. In English it goes "Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me." Christian until death! :D

...Now I just gotta work on being Christian BEFORE death. >_>

Obviously. If an individual chooses to change their life, they're "in charge." If not, they remain "in charge," yet inactive. Or possibly inert. Religious stuff seems to always be primed by the self-help aisle.

Meditation for me is stilling the mind/making the mind stand still, and taking no thought, so there would be no thought.

Also, from where you're coming from... "Jesus" said to "take no thought for your life."

I recall the quote....
He was speaking of life in this world.
He was suggesting we worry less about food, shelter and clothing.

He did say....
Consider the lilies. They do not sow or reap, nor do they spin.
but they are adorned more so than any......

I say, He wanted us to lean our thought to that hour pending......the last breath

Down to the last breath would still be life in this world.

Why worry about anything if someone would be in good hands?

What do you think about not worrying about physical death?

I can see why some will take thoughts and worry while some won't worry or have to think about it.

Maybe our views on "meditation" differ. For me there is a difference between making the mind stand still and taking no thought, and then reflective/contemplative thinking.

How do you see meditation?

more to expanding thoughtful ability

I have meditated with Rubik's Cube.
I have sat still and contemplated geometry with relative motion involved.
and of course.....theology at length.

to empty the mind and be still is all fine and good......but it only empties your mind.

in the hour of your last breath .....ALL that you are will fill your mind

ever hear the expression?......my life passed before my eyes!

Fair enough. My fate, for the most part, is my own doing. Although this may not be the case for every individual on the planet, for me to think otherwise would be foolish. I may construct my life as I wish. There are obvious constraints regarding the limits of my endeavors, i.e. I cannot fly without aid. I may meditate to remove some of the background noise, and clarify what it is I wish to do. I'm not quite certain why heaven and peace would be a guarded place, if an omnimax being existed which (or who) was able to make it available to all.
