Agreed and I, being raised on a farm in the rural western mountains of Maine, also learned to shoot very early and learned respect for weapons. However, that being said, I have seen far too many kids who either shot themselves in the foot or shot another person because of inept parents who didn't care to teach kids proper use or respect of a gun or rifle. we used them to kill predators of our animals or to kill deer during hunting season, etc. But today, kids in urban areas have guns before 10 and use them inappropriately. In Oakland, I can't tell you how many kids were proud of having shot someone.

And yet there was a case just recently that a young girl killed her family due to a video game. Some dark goth thing that had slasher horror stuff all over it. This is not the only case either. Daniel Petric, Aaron Hamel, Alayiah Turman, and so on. Those are just a few Some. If I were having children today, I would not allow video games, nor would I let my children have cellphones or to be online constantly. Whatever happened to going outside to play?? Or simply reading a book? Ask a kid today any classic literature title and they have no idea. Hell, most cannot even count without the aid of a PC. And thanks about Mom. Some, I just love your passion about things. Its kind of nice reading someone who disagrees but does it so terribly nicely to boot. I wasn't pointing out anything more about classic literature save that kids today don't know any of it. I agree some is incredibly violent and so on. I don't have an issue with that. My problem as I was trying to point out is that kids today don't even know of any of those. Let alone have read them. If it isn't in a movie, they don't give a damn. Ask a kid today where the Ural mountains are and they will look at you like you have three heads. Or to name 3 of the signers of the DOI. That is my issue Some. Not that they are violent.
As for those people, you could be right. It could have been mental health issues. I don't disagree with you. And its clear from the number of school shootings we have now that our mental health system sucks. We have to out source everyone and that leaves them on the street, most of the time with no meds. But my issue is that kids are way too plugged into technology to the exclusion of a good solid education. That, at least for me, is a very big down side. Also, patients that I have treated absolutely hate that doctors and nurses sit and look at PC screens and don't talk to the patients anymore. What the hell would happen if all the technology crashed?? We would be in a serious world of hurt. Kids would not know what to do with themselves minus their cellphones. And there are clear and documented cases of health issues related to these things as well.
WELL THAT'S MORE THE FAULT OF THE ADULTS, ISN'T IT? CLASSICAL LITERATURE IS WONDERFUL AND GROTESQUE AND AWE INSPIRING AND ALL THAT ****. BUT ADULTS REVERE IT. TAKE THOSE BOOKS OFF THAT HIGHLY INTELLECTUAL NONSENSE AWARD SHELF, SHOW THEM THAT THEY'RE JUST BOOKS. SOME GOOD SOME BAD, BUT INTERESTING NONETHELESS.

I definitely agree its the fault of the parents Some. I read all kinds of classics to my children from the age of birth. We had a nightly ritual of reading one of those books. I started with things like William Goldman or L Frank Baum but then as they grew, graduated to more serious books and they loved it. When my partner's eye sight failed due to diabetes, I read the books to her. I agree with you about having the books as you mention above but I also know far too many who have never read any of the classics. And not even have ever heard of them. I have about 75 leather bound versions of some of the world's best literature. A gift I intend to pass on to my sister's son and his wife and kids. But as for technology, we are going to have to agree to disagree dear one. I continue to see it as not the best thing for kids. It has the effect of causing social isolation, IMO. Kids no longer talk to each other unless through texting. I am reminded of a line from Contact when Palmer Joss ask are we a fundamentally happier people because of technology and goes on to talk about the social isolation I am discussing here.

One of the major problem with islam is that their religious leaders have too much money in their hands - from zakat, from muslim donations, from oil etc. With this money they corrupt the politics in your area and take the media in their hands. With this, they make the situation amiable for their "growth" and they train their young brains to be dormant extremists.
Once they gain a major share in population, they will try to eradicate other non-muslims. Because they have an agenda with in their Quran - make the whole world muslims!. They are moving with such a motive - intellectually, strategically, economically,population wise, etc,etc. Today's "peaceful islam" is tomorrows terror.

SOME BOOKTUBERS HAVE GIVEN ME EXTENSIVE LISTS OF CLASSICS I HAVE NOT HEARD OF BECAUSE THEY ARE FOREIGN. GOODREADS HELPS ME DECIDE WHAT BOOKS I MIGHT BUY OR PIQUES MY CURIOSITY IN SOME CLASSICS DUE TO CONTROVERSY OR DEBATES (IE CHAUCER'S CANTERBURY TALES.) TV SHOWS SPARKED AN INTEREST IN FAIRY TALES, FROM SAMSALA GRIMM TEACHING YOUNG ME ABOUT PERSPECTIVE AND DIFFERENT ROLES IN STORIES, TO THE FAIRYTALER GIVING ME HCA TALES I DIDN'T OWN OR KNOW ABOUT. They are already trying that. It doesn't matter if you're talking about ISIS or Boko Haram or Al-Shabaab or any of the other fanatical religious groups, they will kill anyone they can that doesn't follow their particular religious beliefs. And it isn't limited to Muslims, there are plenty of Christian groups, like the one fighting in the CAR, out there who want the same thing. Same with the Buddhists in Myanmar. Religion is all potentially violent. It just takes them seeing a chance to get away with it.
I have all of those and many many more. Some are very oversized books which I adore such as The Egyptian Book of The Dead and Homer's books, Dante's and Milton's. I also have all of the Dune books, the entire Tolkien collection and a bunch more you would love. I am not a big fan of Bronte or Austin and I absolutely hate Faulkner but I have them. You might try The Eastern Press for the books you are interested in. That's where I got some of mine.
