How do I become a vegetarian?

I'm a happy omnivore, but I like good food. Vegetarian, vegan, steak, I don't care so long as it's tasty. I've never had a meat substitute that wasn't vile.

I've got some Quorn in the freezer: burgers, chicken, etc. I'm scared to cook it though! (Dunno how to or what with)
Dude, it'll tell you on the box/packet. You also won't have to worry about it so much as you would with meat, much less chance of getting food poisoning through not cooking it properly.
With the chicken (I'm guessing it's the little chunks in a packet) just use it as you would normal chicken - like with pasta/curry fry it up for a few minutes till its brown, then add the sauce and simmer for 10-15 minutes and bob's your uncle.

I know how to cook them, just not "how" to cook them! Like, should I fry or grill or what? :D (I oven cooked the ones I ate)

I had some Quorn burgers, the fried things. :D
They were pretty good, really! :D

I'm gonna try the faux chicken later on or tomorrow. ;)

LOL i totally agree.

Mushrooms are you friend, they soak up the flavours of what you are cooking them in. Plus they maintain a chewy firm texture which makes up for the lack of meat in recipes.

You will probably miss oily salty foods at first but that will fade after a couple of months.

And yeah forget tofu.

What's the problem with tofu? Tofu has exactly the properties you're lauding mushrooms for.

I said meat substitutes are vile, but tofu's ok so long as it's treated like tofu, not meat.

When this Jew wants some meat taste with a cheese dish, I find the chicken or beef bouillon cubes and make a rice dish or make a soup. Turns out, much to my delight, being a convert and all, that some of those cubes are not made from beef or chicken. They are actually made from vegetables and seasonings that make them taste like beef or chicken.

You're not cooking it properly.
Even fresh from the store tofu comes in textures from firm to almost liquid. After buying the appropriate tofu for the recipe you have in mind, your preperation can create all sorts of textures: crunchy, chewey, "meatlike," soft, crumbly, scrambled-egglike, &c.
Add the fact that, like potatos, tofu is a bland food that will readily take on whatever flavor you care to give it, and you have one heck of a versitile food.

I'm probably one of the world's laziest cooks, ["if it takes longer to make than to eat, it isn't worth the effort"], but even I find the stuff easy to work with.

Actually the very few times i have tried tofu i got the firm stuff. Soaked it in a sauce mix then pan fried them. Quite tasty on a burger. But mushys are much easier.

2/3/ days, great :)
Do you feel less bloated?
Absolutely!!

I'm a bit more grouchy at the moment though. :D And more picky with the food, so I might lose a bit of weight! Whee! I want to lose about 21lbs, even though I don't need to. :D

I'm about 190lbs. I want to weigh 154lbs or so. I'm 5'7 and male, for reference. :D

Now you're not participating in the slaughter you can allow yourself realize how truly revolting it is to eat meat. Do and I bet the pangs won't take long to fade.

I've seen an abbatoir before now. I think they're horrible things, this is partly the reason I've been wanting to become a vegetarian for so long.

That, and PETA's "Cooking Mama" game, I enjoyed making the tofu turkey. :)
