How do I know anything really exists?

Well if you are asking about God's existence? i'll tell you that it depends on how strong is your faith. You have to generate a belief inside your heart. its a natural thing and you can boost this feeling by following the right way.

Yes. More accurately than we humans can. Only because their perceptions aren't warped by human things like the ego. They see things as they really are.

what is more accurate?

considering animals typically have less well develop optical functions

or the fact they only see certain spectrums of light

how is that more accurate?

More accurate would be somethign that sees the whole gammut and smorgasboard of light and radio waves....shirley...

as such animals are subject to the limitations of their own perceptions also.....

Well, I wasn't really. And if I remember correctly, the heart doesn't generate any belief's.
How exactly is faith a natural occurrence more so than non-faith? And what way? I didn't realize I was going anywhere.

Your awareness and your ability to observe and experience things exists.

But my awareness is limited to certain factors and my abilities to observe are limited to certain factors. And what level of awareness and ability to I become able to 'know' through perception, even things I claim to exist outside of my perception?

Okay, you got me. You don't really exist.

You do not exist ==> Your brain does not exist ==> You are insane.

(P==> Q) equals (nonQ==>nonP)

You are not insane ==> Your brain exists ==> You exist.

How do you know you are not insane?? If you are, then Im really wasting my time explaining to you.

That would be a mighty fine argument if the conclusions of your premise was valid. If 'I' do not exist does not mean my brain does not exist. If my brain does not exist, I couldn't be insane anyways without a brain.

So really, I'm getting lost right at the beginning because I can not follow.

One of the reasons I was such a disappointment to my philosophy professors was that I always thought questions like this were a waste of time. I am prepared to proceed from the assumption that some things do exist.

I don't think humans are any less perceptive than other animals. If dogs or spider monkeys could tell you their thoughts about things, you'd think they were just as stupid as humans.

LOL. I am prepared to proceed from the assumption as well... but it's still just that.. an assumption. A tool to use to get past the unanswerable question!

What is "existence" then? What does it mean to exist? Being is the only absolutely self-evident truth because it precludes all things, even perceptions or the act of questioning. I think this could be seen as an esoteric definition of faith; one cannot know with certainty that the self exists, but in being, one becomes the evidence. Not to say that I care much about the word "faith", but it was at the tail-end of that thought. Over time, words such as "being" and "existence" have the tendency of being checkpoints in the midst of deeply conditioned channels of thinking. It takes a little bit of openness to re-realize the significance of such pointers.
