How do you differ in real life from your RF persona?

In real life, I've spent the last few weeks doing renovations to our new house with my wife to prepare for our move by the end of this month. In RF, I've spend the last few weeks making sarcastic comments, pithy witticisms, and corny jokes.
You live in a new house but you're moving at the end of the month? Ah. Now I understand the sarcasm.

I don't really know what my rf persona is to be completely honest, so I can't comment.

BTW ATS this is a rhetorical statement not a leeway to a character assasination :areyoucra

We bought a new house, but don't live in it yet. This is the problem - people think I'm being sarcastic, even when I'm not. Of course, I almost always am, so it makes sense.

It's not fair to leave an opening like that and not let me use it. Although, I will respect your wishes and not assassinate your character even though I'm fairly sure doing so would make Jodie Foster fall madly in love with me.

In RL, I've found that if I don't tell people I'm an atheist, they tend to assume I'm some sort of Protestant.

That's funny, many people assume, based purely on looks, that I am into the metaphysical.

I don't know what people assume about me or if they assume anything. I suppose the only time something is really assumed about my religion is when I'm wearing my pentacle outside my shirt...and then it's just a matter of what they know or don't know about what that means.

That or the minivan.

I'm tempted to get a "you can be good without God" bumper sticker, but I'd worry about it being an invitation to vandalism on road trips to the US.

Once, when I was stuck on the side of the road, on a Sunday, waiting for a ride to go get a blown tire fixed, I decided to "decorate" my car. Even though I was sitting in what is known to be a highly religious town (not my town, I was traveling), which pretty much completely shuts down on Sundays, I figured it would be funny to "write" in the dirt on my car. I drew a big pentacle on the hood, wrote things like "witchmobile" and "Blessed be" along the sides, and other such things all over it. Like I said...I was bored. Add to that the many bumperstickers that said "don't make me get my flying monkeys", "do not meddle in the affairs of dragons for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup", and several others along those lines I can't even remember now...I'm betting my car was quite a sight. No one messed with it though. I don't know if it was due to any tolerance of the people who came across it, or maybe sheer fear, :p...but it wasn't touched. ;)

I'm thinking it would have been funnier if the car was in front of a church that Sunday...can you imagine??? :p

Continuing from my last post here: I have been told that I am stubborn. I like to read a lot, both fiction and nonfiction. I have always been incredibly sensitive.

I am 6' 2" and build like a grizzly bear, so everybody expects me to behave like one. Which i did for many years. Jesus Christ sort of turned my life upside down and he's building a new me. Don't think there is enough time to do a complete make over, but I like the changes so far !
I am straightforward - what you see is what you get. I don't like lying and *****, I hate bullies, not online or IRL. My avatar is a good likeness of the guy in my bathroom mirror. I love people and I love talking and preaching to an audience.

It was on fire when I laid down on it.
Yeah, reading thru these responses, I realized something else about myself IRL.

I think I am a lot funnier IRL. I've always been the class clown and I LOVE practical jokes, even though if I'm instigating one, it better be over with quickly because I can't stifle my laughter for very long.

As my dad put it, "Kathryn laughs with her mouth open." Raucous, thigh-slapping laughter is a HUGE part of my real life. I think I come across as more of a ******* online.

There is a very serious streak running right through my being. Though I love British comedies and sly wit, and though in front of people I'm usually smiling and cutting up, when I read I usually read only non fiction, "heavy" stuff.

Actually, Kathryn (or whatever your name is :p) I caught on to your humor pretty quickly. Loud and raucous and explosive, that's for sure.

If I make down to your part of the country, I plan on bringing a case of really cheap beer to share with you. ;)

Now, some people here may not realize just how SILLY my brother and I can be IRL. If anything differs for us collectively, it's our humor and how weird and inane it is. WE sometimes feel like British comedy was written as a documentary of us.

Oh, and plus, Troublemane and I really don't have any sibling rivalry between us. For many many many years, he and I have been extremely close. I can't count how many years he was practically my best friend. On RF, I think we act out situations where we would have some rivalry, more actually we're more like partners-in-crime.

That sounds nice. My brother and I have never been really that close, nor have we been big adversaries either though. We're just kind of...IDK...there. We get along ok, but we don't socialize with each other, just at holidays really. We get along better as adults than we did when we were younger though. He's younger than I am and since he was the baby and had this "puppy dog" eye thing and "I'm so innocent" thing going on then I tended to get the blame for anything wrong in the house, because... well... "he just wouldn't do something like that". It really wasn't until I left for the Navy that my mother realized just what a proficient liar my brother really was and that I probably did get grounded and punished a lot for things he did. It was rather nice to hear my mother finally say that. Because I did get punished a LOT for things he did.

LOL, that's what happened with our middle brother. He was off the hook for practically everything, and Mike and I were targeted because.....well......he's the oldest and the risk-taker who can't keep his mouth shut, and I'm the youngest and the baby who was assumed to try to get out of anything and can't be trusted.

Clearly, our parents had some issues of their own.

 :D

It took a few years for us, too, to hear our parents admit it. It might be why Mike and I are so close. :trampo:
