I'm confused by 2 things:
1. Is there a way to look for "recent posts"?

The lightning icon on the top right corner shows latest posts. It also has a few different tabs for recent activity depending on its type: new posts, new profile posts, etc.
2. When I tried to reply to a long message, there was no code for me to copy to separate sections [ QUOTE="xxxx, post: #######, member: #####" ]

The new software doesn't need manual separation of individual sections in a post. Once you place your cursor at the end of a line and press Enter (or a corresponding key on a phone to start a new line), the software automatically separates your response from the quoted segment.

and I had trouble choosing to bold certain words -- how does one turn on any sort of legacy editing interface?

Click the vertical-ellipsis icon on the top right corner of the post space. It will show the following buttons:
  • Redo
  • Square brackets
  • Format eraser
  • Save or delete draft
Click on the square brackets. This will put the post editor in "code view," allowing you to manipulate the code manually.

Yes, do forgive me if I seem over critical. I'm still waking up, and haven't finished my tea yet....

It was needed, and I understand the bugs take awhile to work out.

Typically, my morning routine is to respond to 'easy stuff' until the brain starts working(don't listen to @Secret Chief , my brain does work sometimes). Nothing's 'easy' at the moment, but it'll come once I get used to it, and bugs are worked out.

No, it's crucial to give feedback, critical or otherwise. I'm glad this thread is getting so much feedback so far.

Bridging the Gap Between Believers and Skeptics
The thing that upsets me the most is that recent threads have been changed to recent posts in home page, so I don't know what to do if I want to see the most recent threads created. Another, much smaller thing, is the section which you can self-label your religion is gone now. I wish there was just a way to fix the original forums so they'd work properly, this honestly feels like a forums downgrade if anything.

Yep. We might end up disabling it. Negative ratings have always been deemed by the staff to be at odds with the forum mission. We don't want a Reddit 2.0. :D
I admit, I'd definitely like to see that one go...

If people want to fling poo, they should at least have to collect it... the negative frubal makes being a downer too easy.

The owners are aware of the issue with the religion field and are looking into it.

New features will be added along the way. The update is definitely not concluded yet, so it should only get better from here.

I tried pushing some buttons on this thing, and I think it activated something that wasn't supposed to happen.

One thing I've discovered is that you can't right click on a gif image and copy. It'll still work, but the gif animation won't be activated, it'll be just a still image.
