How does your religion view masturbation?

I can see what you're saying, but have no clue in any kind of physical sense how that would work.

Is it possible to give the clue for taste of an apple without using the clue of an apple ? If such a small thing is not possible, than why are you looking for the clue for how that would work.. loll ? :)

I'm looking for a clue for how it would work to suggest it's not just hand-wavy unsubstantiated waffle. Which is very much what it sounds like from where I'm sitting.

Masturbation in Buddhism...

Evil? No. Good? No. It just is, but with the notion that it does distract you from the nature of reality. While the act of masturbation itself is just physical phenomena, it is the desire and intent behind it that is considered to be a mental defilement. Something that will likely keep you trapped to Samsara. I do believe that its karmic effect is lesser than that of an intercourse, though, but still purposeless.

As there is no god, no cosmic force is 'hating' on you for masturbating, it simply has consequences in karmic continuum: maybe you find some fantasies that you rather would not have thought of, maybe it gets addictive, but most certainly it causes distance between you and state of enlightenment.

Sin? No. Bliss? Certainly not so.

:D

When you say there is no cosmic force hating on you and then talk about “karmic continuum” are you using karma in the sense of a cosmic cause-and-effect judgment type of ordeal as espoused in many Hindu schools of thought or are you using karma in the metaphorical western sense of what comes around goes around? You also said it keeps you trapped in samsara. What if that masturbation is a release which would continually naw away at your sanity until you satisified that urge? Something akin to satisfying a hunger urge, that same primal need. Wouldn’t that be better than striving/clinging to hold onto the idea of chastity.

lol but no in all seriousness, my religious position includes no stipulations that concern masturbation either way with the exception you should probably refrain from doing so in public.

My religion is certainly not against it. In fact, it would be explicitly recommended for some workings. The pleasures of the flesh are to be greatly enjoyed, within the parameters of reason and consensuality.

According to my religion, you need a generous amount of coconut body butter, a couple of magazines, and some smooth jazz playing in the background.
Oh, wait. That's not really what you were asking is it?
