If you say so. I think he struck a nerve with the working men and women of this country. A segment the left purports to defend, but has failed miserably.Whether that's true or not, Trump can be said to have won because he lied with impunity.
He said he would release his tax returns. He refused to do so.
And here's the point. Hillary is not important any more. Trump is. He was commonly touted as the "tells it like it is" candidate while lying and dissembling in public. And the usual response from his supporters was to change the subject or explain why lying is OK when it's a lie they want to hear.
Tom
It isn't me saying it. It's Trump. He said he would release his tax returns and then he didn't. That is just one example of Trumps willingness to lie when it suits the goal.If you say so.
By lying. He can say anything, and when proven to be false his supporters will ignore it or say it doesn't matter.I think he struck a nerve with the working men and women of this country.
Trump is the one who matters now.A segment the left purports to defend, but has failed miserably.
If you say so. I think the tax returns are much ado about nothing. Seriously, who cares?!It isn't me saying it. It's Trump. He said he would release his tax returns and then he didn't. That is just one example of Trumps willingness to lie when it suits the goal.
By lying. He can say anything, and when proven to be false his supporters will ignore it or say it doesn't matter.
Trump is the one who matters now.
I watched as the Republican Right trashed my country. I watched as the Democratic left brought it back. Now the lies told by the Republican candidate don't matter again.
Again!
Tom
So, can we agree that Trumps supporters are OK with a dishonest candidate? If you say so. I think the tax returns are much ado about nothing. Seriously, who cares?!
I don't.If you say so. I think the tax returns are much ado about nothing. Seriously, who cares?!
Well, maybe you should turn that around and laugh at yourself as I have been very critical of our actions that I have long believed were deplorable going all the way back to our blatantly immoral involvement even before the Vietnam conflict. I was so angry that, had I been drafted, my wife and I had made the decision that we would move to Canada where I have relatives (Quebec). It wasn't that I was afraid to go but because what we did was immoral, imo. And that is by no means the only area whereas I've been critical. If you want, I can give you a list of some others. Are you interested? What is somewhat hilarious here, Metis is that you make it sound like the American government, throughout modern history, has never meddled in the internal affairs of other sovereign nations. Hell, meddling with the internal affairs of other sovereign nations is practically the great American pastime. Then, when there is a possibility that a foreign government may have meddled with your hideous excuse for an election that is somehow a reason to start screaming? LOL. Shall I start a charity to ship tonnes of boxes of Kleenex down to hard done by American voters? Boo-fricken-hoo...
They certainly have been. And now he's at war with our own intelligence community that we rely on for security information, plus he has as of this date received only four intelligence briefings because he's not interested in any more. Are Trumps supporters OK with a point blank lie if it comes from Trump?
Tom
Your post (#107) wasn't a slight about their intelligence?I didn't. I simply pointed out that you expected me to take your, and other republicans, opinion over that of experts around the globe. You took it as me calling republicans dumb.
You don't talk of Russians likely doing it....you say they did it.Certainty is impossible. I never claimed certainty. But everything points to them. Nothing points to anyone else.
In that case, you aren't.I am a republican who supported the other guy in the primary and voted for Hillary as the best option. How on earth does that make me responsible?
I see what's going on.....Yes, she was beaten by leaked info along with an FBI director who chose to highlight her investigation while ignoring Trumps.
Listen, I am not going to keep going around and around on this. Just remember this conversation. Remember you are the one who claimed she was 'more corrupt' than Trump. I suspect you will eat those words before long.
Typical. Then why make the promise if you're not going to keep it? I care. I want the POTUS to do what he promises to do.If you say so. I think the tax returns are much ado about nothing. Seriously, who cares?!
Do you need a time out?No, that's inaccurate. You didn't say this until just now. Don't reinvent history.
Which generality did I hide behind? You're being overly vague here. Be specific (or be Atlantic).
Taxpayer funded? No you need a time out, you call your self a Libertarian, and yet you're totally dependent on the taxpayer funded internet!!
What I want to know is "what is this alleged 'Satanist' agenda"?
How can we trust the intelligence community , when they has made mistakes in the past? They certainly have been. And now he's at war with our own intelligence community that we rely on for security information, plus he has as of this date received only four intelligence briefings because he's not interested in any more.
On top of that, I wonder how many here remember that Trump actually publicly asked the Russians to hack into and find Hillary's deleted e-mails? But, like he correctly admitted, he could shoot someone between the eyes and his supporters would still support him. We have reached a new low.
Your post (#107) wasn't a slight about their intelligence?
Of course it was.
But even worse, you're taking the word of these unnamed experts because they're highly
intelligent.....and without evidence? Note too that everything shown me by the Russian hacking
conspiracy theorists talks only of speculation that it's the Russians. How can you be so sure
when even they aren't?
Add to this the fact that Obama loathes Trump, & wanted Hillary to win. Now his experts
are claiming secret evidence for something which Hillarites believe would harm Trump?
I've no faith in such convenient unevidenced claims.
You don't talk of Russians likely doing it....you say they did it.
This is unwarranted certainty.
What points to them?
With what probability of belief?
How do you know it can't be anyone else?
In that case, you aren't.
But you want to make me responsible for anything bad Trump does,
without even considering.....
- All the potential for Hillary to be even worse.
- The fact that Trump hasn't even assumed office yet.
You entirely ignore the fact that we were presented with a choice between 2 bad alternatives.
If I pick the lesser of 2 evils, that does not mean that whatever evil befalls us is my responsibility.
I played the odds, & made the best choice possible, given all the information available.
By voting for Hillary, you were voting for sexism, war, racism, high taxes, corruption, incompetence,
big government, authoritarianism, & bland pantsuits. To vote against that (in opposition to you)
was the most moral responsible thing to do, despite the fact that it poses risks too.
I see what's going on.....
Hillary voters are hurt, disappointed & angry that they didn't get their way. The polls &
the media assured them that she'd win by a landslide. Government & the media worked
overtime to demonize Trump as the next Hitler. He absolutely had to lose.
But Hillary had skeletons in her closet. So did the DNC in its corrupt anointment of her.
This all came out, & the voters responded by dumping her. Her fans cried, whined,
screamed, accused, rioted & railed against this outcome. They need someone to
blame....a great unfair evil to focus upon...to excuse her loss....to feel righteous indignation.
Lo....they seize upon murky secret speculations by anonymous government experts
(working for Obama) that the Russians are guilty. They blame us (Trump voters) for
gnoring this unverified conspiracy theory, & so we're dimwitted "dupes" who are "conned".
You & they make it personal in lieu of having any real substance....just anger & blind
faith that her coronation was sabotaged.
"Eat my words", you say.
"Dodged the bullet" I say.
Bad things could happen under Trump.
Worse things could happen under Hillary.
So it's a bad idea to act like you have THE TRUTH, or the moral & intellectual high ground.
It's not a conspiracy theory, russia has been hacking America for months this election season. The only question is whether they did it to help Trump. Which may never be known, but common sense tells us that it probably was. When you release information for only 1 side, that says enough. In the news....more doubts cast upon the Russian hack conspiracy theory.....
Exclusive: Top U.S. spy agency has not embraced CIA assessment on Russia hacking - sources
They say they have evidence.Unevidenced is a stretch.
How does oil (whose oil?) lead to the Russian hacking conspiracy?I don't. But there are tens of billions in oil money at stake (probably more). I don't know anyone else with even close to that strong a motive.
The world ended for the many people incarcerated for life over small offenses (1994 Crime Bill's 3 strikes provision). We have a pretty good indication of what Clinton would have done. Her husband was president for 8 years after all. The world didn't end.
It was guesstimation. And we have yet to see if he was the lesser of two evils. It's not looking good, and as you point out, he isn't even in office yet. Over half the country disagree with you.
That's not the reason I dismiss the seriousness of the hacking. No, that's not it at all. Election tampering by government officials is a serious thing. As is the notion of foreign powers influencing elections. It's sad that you dismiss both just because it benefits your guy.
We each believe we have the moral high ground. In this case, I believe I do have the moral high ground. You are simply brushing aside major problems in this election because you benefited from them.
You continue to complain about how Hillary had some disadvantages.Clinton was a flawed candidate. No question about that. But that does not excuse hacking servers and the FBI influencing elections.
