How important to you think it is to understand the true role of Jesus Christ?

I'm not even gonna comment on this thread, oops, I just did.

Do you know the "The Last Supper" painting is a sentence that reads from Left to Right?

It says See Bloodline of Jesus Keep devil in Line.

Try it. Look from left to right and watch their movements and expressions, it's a sentence.

I believe the problem the world has with Jesus is *sin*.

Jesus is against sin and man wants to keep it.

~can't have it both ways, man likes that feel good feeling, that contradicts the laws of God- sad.

Sin is also an irrelevant concept in my life, except in moments where blowhards like telling me I'm somehow in the wrong and that their religion is the only way out of it. ;)

Jesus is irrelevant to my life and beliefs. I'm not even convinced that he even existed as a person. Even if he did exist, he would still be irrelevant to me.

I believe knowing and understanding Jesus Christ is of eternal importance.

... for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12

You know what is even more amazing? Leonardo da Vinci was a man of science not a man of faith. WOW, imagine that. "The Lord works in mysterious ways."

Based on the idea that different religious groups that have responded differently to Jesus and their differences have been blamed for much injustice and hatred over the centuries.

Christendom has also contributed to hatred and bloodshed. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that any religion that advocates bloodshed to support the political agenda of its nation, cannot be supported by anything Christ taught. He advocated that we 'love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us'. He also said that true Christians (as opposed to the counterfeit weeds sown by the devil) would never raise a hand against their brothers. To do so made them unacceptable to God. (1 John 4:20, 21) Yet in the two world wars fought by all nations, (I believe only one nation remained neutral) Catholic killed Catholic and Protestant killed Protestant under the guidance of their spiritual shepherds (chaplains in the armed forces) who even blessed the weapons that would be used to kill their fellow believers and even innocent women and children. Does this sound like true Christianity to you?

Nationalism becomes a 'religion' when it is placed on equal footing in the hearts of people who put the love of their homeland before obedience to the Christ. Its a difficult test when one is raised to believe that one's own country is somehow blessed by God.....God no longer supports any particular nation. (Acts10:34, 35) That means you can't be a spiller of blood and yet still be a Christian. You can be one or the other, but not both.

In some countries even today the differences in response to Jesus are being used as an excuse for hatred, discrimination and division.

Yes indeed, so the question is why?

The Abrahamic religions are too busy being "right" in their own eyes to be "right" in God's. This was Jesus' main bone of contention with the religious leaders of his day.

The apostle Paul wrote:"Return evil for evil to no one. Take into consideration what is fine from the viewpoint of all men. If possible, as far as it depends on you, be peaceable with all men. Do not avenge yourselves, beloved, but yield place to the wrath; for it is written: “‘Vengeance is mine; I will repay,’ says Jehovah.” But “if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by doing this you will heap fiery coals on his head.” Do not let yourself be conquered by the evil, but keep conquering the evil with the good." (Rom 12:17-21)

The genuine Christians are the ones who are "peaceable with all men", including their enemies. These are the ones who allow 'vengeance to belong to God' who told us that he will "repay". We do not need to fight, but to 'keep conquering the evil with the good'.

Christianity is evident by actions, (or sometimes lack of them) not just empty words.

Wouldn't it be strange if God sees all the 'Abrahamic' religions as counterfeit imitation religions? "By their fruits" Jesus said you would recognise his disciples. So we don't look at what people say because talk is cheap. Their actions speak so much louder than their words.

Just like in the first century, Christ's followers are very different to the mainstream.
It takes courage to be different to the majority, and it takes a genuine love for God to see through empty religious falsehood that contributes nothing but more trouble in a world that Jesus told us to be "no part" of. (John 15:19, 20)

Twilight Hue

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
The word "Christian" means "Christ Like". To be "Like Minded". The same spirit is inside you as inside Jesus. It's what makes Us 1 with the God and His Son.

God did not create a robotic creation. We all have free will choice. Just know, God is righteous and Just and in the end, there will be no excuse as to why a man didn't listen to the only path that leads to Him- His Son Jesus.

I probably would have said that too in retrospect. Then I realised the irony of following a robotic religion.

When I read it, it said "If you lived here you'd be home by now"

Christ has no importance whatsoever and never did, it is people's beliefs and actions based on those beliefs that have had an impact of various sorts. Some claim Christ really existed at one time.

About as important as understanding the true role of Socrates. That is, I think it would be less problematic to uncover what various people think is the true role of historical figures, than it is problematic to actually know what, if anything, is their true role.
