Like you, I have never had a bad encounter with a cop (though I am an old white guy). But their widespread abuse is well documented. In this case, how can anyone excuse shooting a woman dead (head shot) for shoplifting? Seems like the wild west to me.

Yes, it really does, unless the officer sincerely feared for his life, which is probably doubtful. I believe he has been charged while the other officer present has not been charged. Thank goodness. Still doesn't make that woman alive again though.

I'm familiar with that one.
The cop never should've put himself in the vulnerable
position of being in front of the car. And when it moved,
he could've stepped aside. Instead, he killed her....which
appears to have possibly been intended before the car
moved, given his pointing his gun at her immediately.

To be completely honest, I believe they were predominately Nigerian and Scottish, but both sides of the family had been in the US for generations and generations.

Bad cops are arrogant, poorly trained ignorant cowards too stupid, fat and lazy to get a real job. Good cops don't as often make it to YouTube because they are not as entertaining or controversial. The problem, as always, is stupid ideology. Bad cops don't know the law because bad cops don't care about the law. They care about other things. Same thing with politics, religion, science, news, everything. Even idiot ideologues who go out with their phones to record themselves breaking the laws which they also don't care enough to look carefully into before doing so. One way the majority of cops are bad cops
is their poor knowledge of the laws they're
charged to enforce. Their training woefully
inadequate, given that they can use deadly

but robbed the tenant. It was all captured on
their body cameras. Should they go to jail
for robbery? Nope.
One was found not guilty by a jury.
The other 2 got only probation.
They can keep on robbing civilians with impunity.

Mostly, it's the poor that are victimized by bad cops. And in the land of greed, no one cares about the suffering or abuse of the poor. There is no clamor for better cops because no one cares about the people they are victimizing but the victims.

Every bad cop everywhere on Earth knows not to screw with rich. And even more importantly, never to screw with the rich people's money pump. You want to see reform, it will be immediate and drastic the moment the cops start interrupting the flow of money into the rich man's bank account. (Your single 20 year old exception not withstanding.)

Cops nearly always know who is rich because rich people with power like to flaunt it. What good is being rich and powerful if no one knows it?

Bullies don't bully the stronger. They bully the weaker. Everyone knows this. So the stronger need to show it. And so they do. Expensive cars, expensive houses, expensive clothes, expensive friends and expensive lawyers on retainer ... all make the bully cops think twice. Because these are the very people that could force reforms and correct their behavior.

Clearly, you feel the need to defend the rich whenever and however possible. Because you're a capitalist, and capitalism considers greed a virtue. So there is no point in even having this conversation because you can't consider the validity of the point I'm making. You're love of capitalism won't allow it.

I know some of the kind of people you're talking about. They have money but they don't wield a lot of power in our culture. They keep themselves very low-key. And because of this some of them may find themselves being abused by bad cops. But when push comes to shove they have the money to resolve those problems. And the bully cops will leave them alone after they realize that. Because they want weak, silent, victims. Victims that no one else will care about. ALL BULLIES DO. And these cops are just bullies that managed to get hold of a badge. They pick on the weak (or those they perceive to be weak) because they can, and suffer no real consequences for it. And the judges and city officials allow it because they DON'T PICK ON THEM OR THEIR FRIENDS.

It's common knowledge and common sense. And if you can't accept that because you must worship the righteousness of the wealthy that's your problem.
