My husband speaks some Spanish(though its getting rusty, as his Mexican coworkers have left). We went out to lunch at a Mexican restaurant with one of his coworkers, and he made his order in Spanish. Both the waitress and his friend looked alarmed. "No, no, amigo, you want this!" and helped my husband make his order.

Apparently, he'd attempted to order the equivalent of penis with cheese.

Sounds tasty

I'm American, so zero.
Seriously though, I speak enough Spanish to get by, though I haven't used it for years, so I'm a bit rusty.

In high school, I took 4 years of French, 2 years of Spanish, and 2 years of German. 39 years later, not having used French or German since then, I've forgotten most of it.

I can speak Gibberish, but I cannot understand it.

I took a semester of French, but that was so long ago, what I learned wouldn't help me beyond saying Hello and then blank staring at those responding.

Yeah, skip the cheese.
It indicates lack of cleanliness.

One, with a need to conversate more in German to get me beyond a basic conversation level. I'm also studying Japanese but still at a level that is sluggish at reading it and able to speak only the most basic sentences.

I've been absorbing that one, able to mostly read signs around town, understand a decent chunk of subtitles, but I can't actually speak any of it and don't understand it being spoken that well either.

Hello varies depending what time of day it is.

It's easier to say ça va (it goes). You can get a good 10 minutes of a french person life and ailments with ça va

I'm reasonably fluent in Spanish and English. I speak enough French to order a meal without getting deported for butchering the language--but nowhere near fluent. I took a year of intensive Portuguese in college, but have forgotten it all.

I speak English natively and I am fairly confortable with French. I have some grasp of German (I am working on it) and I have been studying Latin on and off. I did acquire a little Indonesian a few years ago (I spent three weeks in Sumba) but I have since forgotten all but a few words.
