Yes, it's intentional. The reasons for it are spelled out in the OP.

I read the OP. I asked because I am not understanding why you put yes and yes if you are asking for a vote/poll on who wants what. If anything, if you have yes and no, then you find how many people who prefer not to have a DIR and from there and the posts here, you can kinda decipher if its appropriate.

But going off the posts here and not the other point of view kind of unbalances what votes are for.

Actually, Carlita, we're trying to get an idea here of how many people would use the subforum if it were created. We really don't need to know how many people would not use it in order to get an idea of how many people would use it. Does that make sense?

I think it's good to keep it private in case someone doesn't want the whole board to know they're LGB and/or T.
It's wasted space as it is though.
I personally don't think an LGBT subforum should be a DIR, anyway. I think it should just be for general topics about the subject.
I think we should have our own DIR space so we can have a space to discuss our issues, have a "safe space" to ask questions, share ideas and research, and without having to worry about the homo/transphobes polluting it. In a hypothetical scenario, it would allow someone who is of the GBLT to do something like adopting a child, announce it to the forum, share the wonderful news, and not have to worry about someone going on about how sinful it is and how messed up the child is going to be not having exactly one biological mother and one biological father - and if the homo/transphobes did post something to that extent, as it would be against the DIR rules the moderators could easily delete the post.

I'm sure there are other forum sites that exist for the LBGT community. I don't see how it has a place on Religious Forums.

OK, and? Why can't they stick with the categories and sub-categories already available? LBGT is not a religion.
General debates, political debates, food and beverages, entertainment, general discussions...we have those things but they aren't inherently related to religious discussions.
However, a GLBT forum on a religious forum makes perfect sense. If you've ever been on a forum for the GLBT community, a good part of the discussions do revolve around religious issues.

Perhaps the thing should be to make the private rooms more known about. This forum has a habit of balancing things for fairness in the open forums. Liberal-conservative, feminism-men's issues, and so on. If there is one place for one stance there is another for the opposing. If there is a sub-forum for LGBT and allies then there will be call for one with an opposite stance. Do we really want that? This is why the private forum rooms are nice and should be made more aware of.

That kinda has a double affect, though. Some of us dont want to be isolated from the rest of the forum. No separate but equal. Then the private rooms can help if a person is questioning or something. However, like @Shadow Wolf was saying, what if I wanted to announce that Im about to be married. Why would I need to go to a private forum to announce it when I can in a public forum where all will hopefully be supportive given we walk the same shoe while at the same time Im not isolated from those who disagree.

I actually never asked to go into the Rainbow room because I felt, unless one needed privacy, it defeats the purpose of a public forum. That, and like politics, we have our soft spots, but unlike politics, why do GBLTI have to keep hiding our colors.

Id say it should be a DIR under "everything under the sink." Its not religious in nature.

Ah, the guaranteed response scenario. LOL.

We're not looking for a "yes" or "no" on this, Paul. If you want that, there's nothing stopping a big, competent man like yourself from starting your own thread. :D What we're looking for here is how many people would use the subforum. Why would we need to ask how many people won't use the subforum if we want to know how many people will use it?

If it's a done deal, just make the damn thing and see who comes by to play. I don't personally need it, but I am sure some might find some solace there, I suppose.

No, Paul, it's not a done deal yet. Please re-read the OP and my earlier posts with comprehension. I know you can do it.
