Ketchup is ok, so is salad cream (or mayonnaise). But real chips (British for fries) should be eaten with salt and malt vinegar.

I do, too. But only with fries... I don't like ketchup on anything else.

Accept no substitute.
Mustard or ranch all day over ketchup.

Sure, you never see brown sauce on the counter of ordinary fish and chip shops so it must only be push ones.

Must live in a posh area, they always have sachets of brown sauce in chippies round here.
