There's a German saying that not everything gets eaten as hot as it's cooked.
The media has a propensity of exaggerating.

By the way, does anyone remember
- the red scare and McCarthyism
- the Satanic panic
- the "millennium bug"
- the 2012 Mayan calendar "prophesies"
- the other yearly end-of-times religious bull****
- the "vaccines cause autism" hoax
- the "caravan"?

The Millennium Bug was real. It took a lot of work from many programmers over the course of years so that Jan. 1, 2000 came and went without any major hiccups.

Another example of how we can prevent catastrophe with enough directed effort.

So you say the American right cannot cope with a few communists (or immigrants for that matter)?

I thought America was better than that
Exactly. Consider the amount of people like The Proud Boys, Oath Keepers, the Jan 6 insurrectionist, KKK, militias, white nationalists, dominionists, evangelicals, etc.

But no, it's the coffeehouse communists (all 5 of them) that are the threat, somehow.

Give us a realistic senario, step by step, how Soviet style communism could take hold in the U.S. Btw, why haven't any European countries become communist? Most of them are more liberal/left than the U.S. yet have more freedom and a higher standard of living than us.

Soviet style? Try any style of Communism.

To answer more directly, it's going to be through the open socialists active in government and through attrition as subsequent generations are slowly groomed and acclimated as the decades pass, as restrictions get tighter and tighter.

These young people, born into a more restricted society will think its normal with nothing to worry about as the noose on the American Dream gets ever tighter through the lure called socialism.

Classic Marxism Imo.

Those other countries? They keep telling people they are not socialist but keep getting ignored on that point by the idiots who think they know more about those countries then the countries themselves.

That's insane that you think "The Competitive Enterprise Institute" isn't a paid corporate shill and that it's "Center for Energy and Environment" has any other agenda but to slander any science related to environmental protection. The fact you are willing to be this ignorant of your sources totally discredits anything you post.

Assuming the ChatGTP/AI is correct, it doesn’t change the perception that despite scientific consensus to the contrary, the media and politicians used these “facts” and hyperbole to promote fear for political and/or financial gain.
There is a scientific consensus against climate change? Not true.

Nope, all of denial has been fueled (no pun intended) by lobbyists for the fossil fuel industry, who've successfully duped dopes into believing silly conspiracy theories. If you would put your thinking cap on instead of being spoonfed, you would see that this makes far more sense and is far less convoluted.

One apple will eventually spoil the whole barrel they say.

Read the CPUSA website. I do. They sound exactly as the Democrats sound now, and are definitely endorsed without nary a rebuttal or concern about it by the Democrats themselves that there are in fact a number of open socialists and communists within their ranks and active in US politics today.

There was serious concern in the past. NY was most certainly Communist central. The epicenter in the 40s. Prior to ww2 and beyond before they drew back into the woodwork.

These people are like Putin, where the desire for the glory days of Communism to make a return is alive and well and riding the coat tails of the Democrat party in the attempt to accomplish it.

As much as I'd like to believe this, I don't really see it that way. I don't know that NY is or was "Communist central," although my guess is that if they tried to set up their party headquarters anywhere else, it probably would have been burned to the ground. Historically, Communism only really took hold in countries and situations where the conditions had reached an insanely and extremely intolerable level, such as in pre-revolutionary Russia and China. That level of extremism never reached the U.S., primarily because liberal (Northern) Democrats implemented programs that were more friendly to working people, improving the standard of living to the point where we never had to face the extreme conditions which make revolution more likely.

In some areas, such as in AOC's district, there might be more of a far-left sentiment, as might be the case here and there in pockets around the country, just as there are pockets of far-right sentiment here and there around the country. However, I don't think any of it is centralized at this point. It's mostly just people on the internet making a lot of noise.

I never said they were socialist, just more liberal/left than the U.S., which U.S. conservatives would consider "socialist".
However, they do have universal healthcare, which again conservatives from the U.S. would consider "socialist".

I'm having fun too.

Gosh, Myron Ebell is still going. How hilarious. I thought he was dead - at least I hoped he was.

This was the guy who came on BBC Radio and told an incredulous interviewer that climate change was a scam, invented by the EU, to damage the competitive advantage of the USA.

Ten years later he could be heard saying the same thing, but about China.

This meme reminds me of the usual debates about the legalization of prostitution:

- In Germany prostitution is legal and they're doing great, with tax revenues and health controls!
- NO! Those are not prostitutes! Those are ladies who entertain some men in certain kinds of apartments!
- Ok...let's create those apartments, then!
- Are you kidding? No! That would be a brothel!!

Ah aha identical:D:D:D:grin:

They are so funny those who say Scandinavia is "not socialistic"

So you figure that gives you license to spread obvious corporate sponsored lies and propaganda? I lived through all those decades, too. Which is how I knew the assertion was BS immediately. General environmental concerns of the rime were never posed as those predictions of doom and gloom.

Also, consider the logic of your position, here. It's the equivalent of saying that every time we knock out a wall supporting the roof of our house, and the roof doesn't collapse, it means the roof isn't going to collapse so we can keep knocking ot more supporting walls.

Bs. The eco nazi movement was around and spewing crap about dissappearing rainforests and paper bags, lamenting how our resources were running out, terrorizing communities with actual crime sprees (ELF) ... goes on and on. Ever since I was a kid and teenager.

It has been his job to lie about and slander all sorts of environmental protection efforts on behalf of the corporations that paid him.

Imagine the kind of person you'd have to be to lie like that for a living. What must he think of life and his fellow human beings? Or even of himself.

It's hard for me to comprehend.
