One apple will eventually spoil the whole barrel they say.
Read the CPUSA website. I do. They sound exactly as the Democrats sound now, and are definitely endorsed without nary a rebuttal or concern about it by the Democrats themselves that there are in fact a number of open socialists and communists within their ranks and active in US politics today.
There was serious concern in the past. NY was most certainly Communist central. The epicenter in the 40s. Prior to ww2 and beyond before they drew back into the woodwork.
These people are like Putin, where the desire for the glory days of Communism to make a return is alive and well and riding the coat tails of the Democrat party in the attempt to accomplish it.
As much as I'd like to believe this, I don't really see it that way. I don't know that NY is or was "Communist central," although my guess is that if they tried to set up their party headquarters anywhere else, it probably would have been burned to the ground. Historically, Communism only really took hold in countries and situations where the conditions had reached an insanely and extremely intolerable level, such as in pre-revolutionary Russia and China. That level of extremism never reached the U.S., primarily because liberal (Northern) Democrats implemented programs that were more friendly to working people, improving the standard of living to the point where we never had to face the extreme conditions which make revolution more likely.
In some areas, such as in AOC's district, there might be more of a far-left sentiment, as might be the case here and there in pockets around the country, just as there are pockets of far-right sentiment here and there around the country. However, I don't think any of it is centralized at this point. It's mostly just people on the internet making a lot of noise.
