I'm right on the cusp between boomers and gen x. I see myself as gen x, since the boomers wouldn't claim me even when I was young. :p

I'm 23, but my life from 2014 through 2021 was kind of Hell. I feel like I'm too young to be taken seriously and, because of a lot of what I've gone through, I didn't reach many of the benchmarks I should have during my development. Or I met them too quickly or something. I don't know. I don't think I'm where I'm supposed to be at my age, but then again I hear that that's normal for my age, so maybe I'm alright.

When I was a tween, I spent quite a bit of time in online forums and chatrooms much like RF passing as a 30-something. I never claimed to be 30-something, other users just assumed I was and I went with it because I didn't want to get kicked out of talking about philosophy for being a minor. I don't think it caused too many issues. So even before the 7 years of Hell, I had a weird relationship with age. I had friends back then in their thirties, and I've had long-time associates as old as in their 80's.

I like that, in adulthood, adults all kind of get mixed into the same barrel. As a kid, you're sorted by grade level, but as an adult the only real significant barrier is whether you're under or over 21. Age doesn't matter as much. I mean, it does matter a lot to some people, but there are other adults like me from a wide variety of ages that don't care so much about it.

I honestly don't really pay attention to the age of other people beyond whether they're a minor, because of the (imo) justified social taboos against befriending minors, but almost all of the people I associate with are older than me. Not even by a little, they're all in completely different generations. I don't really know how or why that happened.

I think I have a lot of the traits often associated with my generation, they're just kind of subdued. I know who Dream is. I've laughed at SpongeBob Among Us memes and Jerma compilations. I cried when Steve from Blues Clues made that video to his fans apologizing for going to college. I get the post-meta-irony and the overwhelming nihilism that I think pretty much all Zoomers identify with to some degree. It's kind of hard not to as an American; we all grew up in a Post-9/11 world during an economic depression where the future is seen as a dystopia, the planet is dying, and all of the promises of working hard to become successful are collapsing as we see older generations get shirked their retirement while we can't even find our own places to live to escape our abusive family lives. Nihilism is sort of inevitable at that point.

Like most of the Zoomer generation, I don't understand older people's hang-ups about nonbinary trans people or why they think women with dyed hair kissing each other on TV is what turned us into nihilists. I'm also sort of messed up in the same ways a lot of people my age are from growing up with information overload and dealing with people sending us shock sites and trying to groom us from a young age due to the rise of the internet. I was a content moderator way too young and that stuff can really scar you.

I only really know what millenials think about Zoomers, though, because their posts are everywhere. I don't even use Tumblr or Twitter but I see screencaps from them constantly about how Zoomers are jaded nihilists that don't really care about activism and think the world is basically doomed and, like, yeah. big mood

If you're comfortable sharing: how old are you? How do you feel about your age? Do you wish you were younger? Older? Do you mostly spend time with people your age? Does your personality match what is typically said about your generation?

I'm totally comfortable with my age. In the sense that I don't care one bit what number it is. In fact, when people ask, I even have to start calculating based on my birth year to make sure I get it right. It wouldn't be the first time that I say the wrong age when I answer too fast :D

My social circle is generally within the range of ~15 years above or below my age of 42.

I don't think my personality matches what is typical for my age.
I've always been some kind of "outsider". Non-conformist if you will. Not that I actively try to be like that though...

I've just always done my own thing, not caring one bit about what others do or like or say.
I'm not "rebellious" like some people claim. It's not that I actively go out of my way to live "outside" of expected patterns.
It's rather that I simply don't care at all about "expected patterns".

As to how old I am, out of force of habit, I had to think, ‘My international age or my Korean age?’ This happens because I’ve been living in Korea for a year now. My international age is 35.

When it comes to how I feel about my age, I feel that I need to start saving for retirement in case I never live a monastic life in the future. Further, I don’t wish to be younger or older. Additionally, I like to be alone, but when I am with other adults, they are almost always the zoomers who I work with. Lastly, when it comes to my age and personality, my personality is very millennial.

I don't have a TV. I read physical books only(as opposed to ebooks).

Very nice. The TV in my furnished apartment is unplugged and I’ve never turned it on. On the TV stand, I have framed pictures of Sarada Devi and Ramakrishna, a wooden picture of Swami Vivekananda, and two murtis of Ganapati and Nataraja. I also have some actual books now.

What's your Korean age?

Very nice on the decoration of the TV stand and the books!

Is there much opportunity for Hindu monastic life in Korea?

I'm 48.
My IRL social circle ranges from about 10 years younger than me to 10 years older.

I'd like to be a little younger, but certainly not young. 40 maybe?
I have three kids, ranging from 14 down to 2. It's hard not to wish for more time with the youngest, or slightly more energy when she's having a bad night.
I also still play competitive basketball against people upto 18 years younger than me. It's a constant reminder that I used to be able to move faster, and wake up with less aches!

I like making people guess me age. They're usually wrong, by many years, often more than a decade.
Though I tend to associate with people close to my age and older, rarely younger as the interests, world views and such tend to be different and we talk over each other's heads with a lot stuff.

As for do i spend time with folk my own age...no not really most folk are older that I talk to. Regarding my personality...my generation they say is depressed. I am. We got good reason to be.

I've noticed that most of the guys born in 64 seem to be decidedly boomer while the girls are more gen x.
