Yes it's discusting really but Russia have always controlled what the Russian people hear, the truth is getting out on social media.

Some Russians are seeing what is happening though i am wondering how long before the www is shut down or regulated?
Unfortunately, like a lot of Americans take Fox news at its word, the same applies in Russia.

Definately,i'm surprised though that they haven't stopped Navalny talking from prison:

Jailed Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny has posted a strongly-worded series of tweets calling for daily demonstrations across Russia and beyond.

Navalny has spent a year behind bars after surviving a poison attack that he blames on the Kremlin. Last month he went on trial on fresh charges that could see his prison time extended by more than a decade.

"We - Russia - want to be a nation of peace. Alas, few people would call us that now," he writes from the maximum-security prison east of Moscow where he is imprisoned.

But Russians should "at least not become a nation of frightened silent people" who "pretend not to notice the war".

"It's the third decade of the 21st Century, and we are watching news about people burning down in tanks and bombed houses," he says. "We are watching real threats to start a nuclear war on our TVs."

I’m surprised Navalny is still alive tbh. Very brave man, went back to Russia when he didn’t have to, and went straight to gaol.

Very brave and important but the network he had before prison has been shut down, otherwise there would be more protests.

There were mass protests across Russia a year ago I believe, and the authorities imprisoned hundreds if not thousands of protesters? It seems some brave people are back on the streets of Moscow, Petersburg and elsewhere now. Which is not being shown at all on State TV.

American media too are very good at falsifying news from the old continent.

I still recall a certain Colin Powell with a fake bottle in his hands.
Not to mention other details from the 20th century.

Irrelevant to this discussion, and yet another attempt to distract from the bad things happening in Russia and Ukraine.

While there are some exceptions, American media tend to be geared towards presenting a viewpoint which causes Americans to believe that we are an essential and indispensable component in world affairs. It's what appears to drive the "Captain America" complex that so many Americans seem to have these days. We constantly hear phrases and slogans like "leader of the free world," a job which most Americans never really consciously asked for or even seem to want - yet most seem to accept it as if we never really had a choice in the matter.

Interesting BBC article on how the war is portrayed on Russian TV

Ukraine: Watching the war on Russian TV - a whole different story

That seems to start to bring something together more, about all this.

None of the stuff on RT ever seems to criticize russia either, and I've been watching that youtube channel off and on for years. Just seems like a big ego massage for whatever the country's project is. It reminds me why criticism and opposition is important. Even if we sometimes do it with extremely poor taste in america, at least it's there.

The article also dovetails well with the stories we are getting about the erratic russian troop tactics. For it seems that the captured soldiers themselves, say they were tricked into invading? Something seems off with this. Not even telling your own soldiers about the mission, and having them think they would just train and go home, seems like reverse-engineered psyops in the 3rd person, or something. Like the armies from the mad-max movies or something.

I feel sorry for all sides, I highly doubt the mandated russian soldiers want to really do any of this, if they are thinking for themselves a little bit. If the world survives this episode, I get the feeling we will learn more from russians, about how messed up this whole thing is

I love Americans...but this is what sumps up the last 3 centuries.

19th century: Monroe says that the Americas are their own business. No European can interfere.

20th century: Europe becomes USA's business. Nobody can interfere

21th century: Africa and Middle East becomes USA's business. Nobody can interfere.

I understand what you are saying, but I can't help feeling sorrier for the underdogs.
I can't believe anything that Putin says .. he says one thing and does another.

Yes, Russia is not the greatest power in the world, and the west could well have treated Russia unfairly since the break up of the soviet union.
That is no excuse for his behaviour, imo.

It is aggression on a major scale because he can, and not because it is justified.
Putin heads an increasingly repressive regime. He seems to behave like "the fuhrer".

what are your opinions on the claims made in the article?

Russians do speak English and have access to English media on the internet.

I think there is double standardism going on here.
I am accused of conspiracy theorism if I say that a Deep State in the US falsifies the information.

So I guess I have the right to call the article conspiracy theories. Dont I?

Falsification will always happen because every source has
an agenda. The only differences are the degree & the direction.
Criticize the west all you want, but we have the tremendous
advantage of diversity, unlike Russia & China.
