How to search for truth when there are *so many* belief systems

Your favoured translation is nothing but the opinions of the one(s) doing the translating.
Before you continue, please note that I am NOT a choir member..

I know you are not a choir member. And if you want the links let me know read the 3000 page commentary and you tell me if it is their opinion or facts. And if you want the scripture I can email you the files. If there is a breath in your body you can come to YHWH.

I don't go to church I am not religious and neither is YHWH. The truth of his words will explain why Christianity is not his way.

Hi all! So glad we have this forum where I could ask this.
Nice to have you here! By now you will have discovered two features of the forum: (1) the small number of people who actually answer the question and (2) the large number of people who take your ball away to play their own game with it.

So I want to know which religion / belief system / world-view is true, if any. … I think that all world-views have truth in them … But which one or ones, if any, are historically and ontologically correct?

I suggest you consider how you get to the truth in areas other than religion. Things we know can be

(1) Things we just know without having to think about it, like the fact that we have a mind, that the people we meet are the same and not a bunch of robots, that the physical world exists, etc.

(2} Things we have discovered for ourselves, from our own experiences.

(3) Things we have been taught by others. Here we try to ensure that the people whose word we accept are truthful and sensible, and we are more likely to believe them if others agree with them and what they are saying seems plausible.

One of the things we just know is that "things don't just happen for no reason at all". If I find a letter on the mat, it's because some-one put it through the letter-box. It's from ideas like this that philosophers have deduced the idea of a creator, God.

Most of us acquire the rest of our religion by method (3), accepting the word of others. Here we can note that anthropologists divide religions into (a) primary religion (or paganism), which has developed over the millennia, and (b) secondary religions, which have been founded.

Religious founders can be people who have just thought out what they consider to be the correct answer — e.g. the Buddha and the Sikh founder Nanak — or those who believe that they have been spoken to by God — e.g. the Jewish prophets and Muhammad. This raises the question, as you pointed out, as to why they all obtained different answers or received different messages! If there are 10 different religions, then (since they contradict each other, often on major points) 9 are mistaken. This implies that a person who founds a religion has a 90% of getting it wrong. That hardly inspires confidence! It may be that one of these seems true to you: Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, Sikhism. Personally I was underwhelmed by them all, but it's up to you.

As for the rest of mankind (30% by my reckoning), we are pagans. With the partial exception of Hinduism, paganism in different places differs less than different denominations of the founded religions. Some Sunni Muslims wage jihad against Shias, many Protestant Christians wouldn't worship in a Catholic church, but pagans have no such qualms. I worship the gods of Greece, but that doesn't mean I deny the Germanic gods, nor that I would be unwilling to attend a Hindu temple or a Shinto shrine. And our beliefs are not based on one person's claims, but on the cumulative experience of millions. On my altar I have images of Hestia, Hekate, Asklepios, and Tyche. The only one I've experienced is Asklepios, but for the other three I have testimony of other peoples experiences recorded over 3 millennia: a bit more reliable than the claims of a single prophet or guru!

You acknowledge I am not in the choir and yet here you are trying to sell your "truth"?

I am not selling anything to anyone you made a statement that you pulled out of your rear when you didn't read the info so I asked if you wanted the info to rethink your empty statement if you don't want it don't reply or say no thanks I never initiated anything with you if.

So if you are not interested and your happy with your stupid uninformed statement that's great just move on to something else I didn't and wouldn't read your dark side crap anyway. Nor would I respond to anything of your opinion you are entitled to as I am mine.

Assuming you don't want it.... Have a good one tell satan I said enjoy your eternal seperation. Thanks again...

Hi all!

So glad we have this forum where I could ask this.

I was raised religious, but came to realize in adolescence that other children are raised in other faiths / belief systems , and the fact that I was handed down my tradition doesn't automatically mean it's true.

So I want to know which religion / belief system / world-view is true, if any. My natural instinct is to look into the various belief systems in the world. But Wikipedia tells me there are more than 4,000 religions in the world! And I'm guessing that doesn't necessarily include the non-theistic belief systems.

Just to clarify what I mean by "true"... I think that all world-views have truth in them - eg all religions properly practiced can give a person peace and harmony with others and happiness. But which one or ones, if any, are historically and ontologically correct. Which one is not just a bunch of myths, but is historically factual, and which one(s)' portrayal of reality is commensurate with the way reality really is?

To go through the more than 4000 systems seems very daunting, and yet, how else?

So my question is - how to approach all this, and how to proceed?

(and if ultimately the truth is inaccessible to me, I'd like to at least get the best understanding of reality that I can).

Thanks!
Truth is over-rated.
Seeking for its own sake is far superior.

I would recommend using what you are sure of as a criteria to narrow down your searching. Example is like if you believe that there is One God, the options will be massively decreased.

Also I would advise wanting the truth with all your heart.

Still waiting for you to show that your snake oil is anything other than the opinions of the translators.
Now since we both know you cannot do that outside the choir, you have been reduced to adding bold empty threats to your sales pitch.

so your "proof" that it is not merely the translators opinion is to link to some other persons hand picked opinions about the translators opinions?

How do you expect to be taken seriously?

Closest thing to "the truth"? The scientific method.

If you knew anything about the patterns of scripture or anything about God you would know that consistent patterns show truth the nature of Yahowah. You didn't read 3000 pages so again your uninformed. How else do you find truth what ways acceptable to you. You think translaters 2000 years ago had access to more info than now and where less swayed than now?

Please

There is no way to get you a drop of provable truth because you would refuse it anyway and that is your choice.

You study the dark side of things show me all you facts it's as old as Babylon so what language are you going to prove anything to me.

That's right Babylonian (Hebrew)?

Hate to tell you the Jews invented all religions lolololol even yours.

So you have 2 choices find truth or accept a man made religion.

Be in Yahowah's family or be a slave to a master
stand with Yahowah or bow to your master void of any light.

Your choice, like I said you have to make up your own mind read it for yourself.

The choice is yours.

Be Yahowah's family or be a slave to a master
The lord
Baal
Satan

They are all the same.

Wow.

There is no way to get you a drop of provable truth because you would refuse it anyway and that is your choice.
If this lame *** excuse is all you need to justify your incompetence, then by all means, tell yourself the moon is made of cheese if that also helps.

Fact is, you have not evidenced anything other than your commitment to not presenting.

You made a claim.
I pointed out said claim was not only bold, but completely empty.
You have done nothing to support your bold empty claim but to present more bold empty claims.

You seem oblivious to the fact that I am not the least bit interested in your snake oil.
Stop trying to sell to me and support your claim.

if something can be learned from what he is offering i would be willing to take a look. whats the harm in it. i like text like the DSS as they did not go through the filter of the roman empire.

one thing your right about, so much of our belief and faith is dependent on translators. doesnt seem right. sometimes i feel no different than a common person in the middle ages that never seen a bible.

That's great!!! Then stop responding to my stuff I have only responded to your statements.. No statements no response. Not selling anything. Just offering the truth to any that want it Yahowsha said the truth would be free and it is. Go and pay money for lies. These people spent the last 20 years of their time to give this to anyone who would listen. FOR FREE
