If I could prove to you with out a shadow of a doubt IE irrefutaebly; that God wrote the bible, would you do what the bible tells you to do, that is, repent of your sin and receive Christ as your saviour and leave your other beliefs behind?

No, because my spiritual reality is so much better. I find it difficult to respect the God that is described in the Bible and I don't like many aspects of Christianity, which often seem shallow an insensible. So I'd be pretty disappointed if it happened to be reality. Luckily, I believe that the Bible as reality is incredibly unlikely so I'm not worried.

As suspected, you have predermined ideas based on your perceptions and beliefs about the bible and Christianity.

However the question is if you had proof, what would you do, and you siad you would seriously consider it, thats not really an answer, I said if I had 100% proof, what would you do? A pseon with sense would be dissapointed in their own religion, not the other way around, because you would be finding out it was a lie.

So you see, in a way someone with your approach is not really interested in the truth in my opinion, more intersted in holding onto "old ideas"

I know this is a hypothetical questions, but its a good question ask to see wher people are at before deciding to cast your pearls

I (by principle) follow/accept what i see as truth.
If you could provide me with irrefutable evidence or even "only" with evidence that is better than the one present at the moment then i would of course accept that evidence for as long as no better evidence was presented (well if its irrefutable then no other evidence would ever come).

I knwo a lot about Christianity and the Bible. I'm brought up in a Christian culture/country with Christians all around me and went to a Catholic primary school.

Also, I did not say that I would seriously consider it. I said I would be seriously depressed because I find the Biblical depiction of reality as extremely depressing. I mean, if God is actually like that...omg. How aweful. So yeh, I'd 'accept Jesus' so that I didn't go to hell but I'd be pretty disappointed in reality.

I mean, if you are a Christian and suddenly someone proves to you that God doesn't exist wouldn't you be a little depressed? What you wanted to be reality would suddenly be nothing even close to it.

I would not be disappointed in my religion. It would mean that someone somewhere had a better idea of reality and created a fantastical dream of 'what if' and 'wouldn't this be nice' and people started taking it seriously.

Well your first sentence is un proveable for a start, because with the evidence I will produce (hypothetically for now) is not requireds to proof the bible is the word of God, because arguably the fact that the bible exists and you can read and can see the effect it has already had on humanity - your would have to be blind not to see that it is the word of God already, so therfore I conclude, your first sentence to be an opinion, and not necessarily the truth.

Which leaves me to beg the question, would you accept the evidence as truth, because let me tell you my friend, for over one hundred years, this irrefutable evidence has been rejected, and cnat for the life of me understand why, which is why I ma going baout this thread in this way as means to perhaps find out what in the human psyche blocks people form seeing the truth as the truth.

The proof proves that aswell, IE that a human being couldnt have written it the bible that is, it's part of the proof required to prove "God" wrote it. Or are you insane like that joker guy?
