Hungry Venezuelans Hunt Dogs, Cats, Pigeons as Food Runs Out

I rather thought the housing fault was generated by greed.....
as well as the crash of the market at the turn of the previous century....

not to mention the struggles of other countries suffering a economic 'class' problem

and I for one knows what happens on the small scale....
when the company says.....to hell with it....our profit margin isn't large enough.....
we could have made 7million but only made 3million.....
we lost 4million.....
shut the doors

and then the workers....like myself.....get to LOSE the house
and the money already spent trying to keep it....
and the credit rating goes to crap....
and the power company ain't happy.....
etc...etc....etc....

losses are VERY real

unless you happen to be the guy that thinks he lost 4mil
The above literally has nothing to do with the point I made.

I agree with you in part there also, large corporations can begin to operate like small governments in terms of inefficiency, corruption, especially when infiltrated by politics themselves, labor unions, government contracts etc.

But the government is always by far the largest and most monopolistic corporation of all is it not? And is inherently run by lawyers and people with no business experience whatsoever, though Trump could make an exception here?
A corporation which can force you to buy it's products by law, has little incentive for efficiency. Hard work is often frowned upon in the public sector, it's a different culture entirely.

where do you get better, friendlier, more efficient service, KFC or the DMV ?!

I've never had a problem at the DMV in recent years. They've become much better in the last 20 years.

I think the part of the equation you are missing is the voter. Yes, governments by themselves, in a vacuum, would have no incentive to become better. But the voter is that incentive. Programs that cost to much are cut forcing efficiency. The DMV became a catch phrase for government efficiency but (in NYS at least) politicians have reacted as a result of that public perception. There are parts of the government that are insanely inefficient, and those are the parts where the operations don't primarily involve the public and whose budgets are largely off limits. The largest and most bloated being the military.

So I think you are right in part. But corporations are much the same in that some areas are often focused on while others are ignored. Manufacturing and retail tend to be very efficient as those are simply a matter of time and resource management.

So I have five days off, watching a video on the news of folks grabbing food partials off some truck in Venezuela which is going out of control. I've seen these sort of things before, but in the context of the human nature.

This video gives me a flashback to an eyewitness event I saw in Oakland, CA. I am speaking from memory, I don't recall the exact year but it was back in the SLA days so that dates it back to the early 1970s. The SLA were the Symbionese Liberation Army, an oddball far leftwing set of lunatics who had no idea of what communism was or is, sort of a set of drifters who probably did too much LSD and liked the Che Guevara poster but more in the aspect of it's pop art like genre while knowing nothing of the politics involved, who also became hypnotized by certain Indian symbols such as the Seven-hooded Cobra which they adopted as their "logo" based on carvings from a Cambodian Hindu Temple, they were a mess of art taking revolution in their brains as if just on "themeology" they could rise from "pits under the ground, bomb shelters sort of" and "take over" via just being "cool".

So the SLA kidnapped Patty Hearst, the 19 year old daughter of Newpaper Mogul Hearst, she was grabbed, she was a resident in Berkeley, California. I recall hearing the SLA "leader" who actually dialed into an FM station (cannot recall which station, there were also some "pirate" hippy type stations in those days believe it or not broadcasting out of S.F. illegally from garages or something), the guy starts talking crazy demands to the D.J. who broadcast the phone call live.

So I think that was when one of the "demands" were made if I remember right. Anyway, I drove head on into one of these demands. I was driving a Datsun 1200 Delux down Telegraph Ave in Berkeley eastbound towards Oakland, at some juncture just over the Oakland border and had to hook a left turn for some reason, coming upon a major intersection - there it was.

Some rental truck with people on top of the truck were "distributing food" to a huge out of control crowd. It turned out, this was a demand from the SLA. - to distribute food in the name of "socialism and squash the fascist insect". I was head on with mayhem. The crowd was out of control, many just wanted to cause crazy stuff, or just grab "free stuff", they were shoving others around, it was scary sort of in that at any minute what was "gone", "pandemonium", could and WOULD spin out to us in the cars. The folks "distributing" were then also attacked by the mobs in the crowd, the crowd tried to loot eveything or hog it all for themselves while shoving old ladies there for the free food and abusing others, the "distributors" then under attack started to then throw canned food at some of the mob factions as missiles, sort of like "defend the fort" (the truck) and themselves, the canned food became weapons in both directions, then glass started to break on some cars stuck in the mayhem as stuff was being thrown. Cars were trying to get out of there via driving on the sidewalk. Then guys were pulling the hair of females, I recall a black female with an Afro hairstyle about 19 years old or so having her head head shaken and wobbling on top of her neck as some black guy 3x's bigger than her had a grip on her Afro and shaking her left, right, dragging her - food fights and cans flying, I had to get out NOW. Fists flying next, screaming, nuts.

Somehow I got the car through some lot and then back on some escape route and got away.

So much for socialism.

BTW - not to get off subject, but these popup ads on the forum are getting totally out of control, sort of reminds me of the out of control mob of sorts. I use the browser on my smartphone, I cannot login even at times, they block the login screen and the "hide" button on the ad doesn't work, just now I have an Infiniti car ad in Mexican in my face that is haunting most of the browser and won't go away when I hit "hide", nothing happens it just covers the screen and, like, I am shifting the screen around to use tiny areas not plagued by this ad just to log in, if I go to one page from another, yet another ad in my face, this really sucks. Pertinent to this post as these ads are like the mob and out of control.

Well back to Trump being shown LIVE right now in Modesto, Kalifornia - this guy is funny! I love it, man this is really good stuff and no one throwing cans of food.

I have seen a few videos on youtube about Venezuela and it appears to me they are in a terrible state of crisis. Here's another short video:

I noted the narrator says even with the terrible food shortage, since the prices are artificially set so low, there are people smuggling food out of the country, where they can get a better price across the border.

I heard half of Sweden is on the free paycheck....
I heard much the opposite.

and income taxes are crazy high

They are high, from what I hear. Not sure what qualifies as "crazy" high.

In any case, Sweden benefits from a policy of radical accounting and transparency, free press and a reasonably manageable level of overall population and economic equality.

I'm very familiar with the Swedish system, and frankly I'd rather live with my relatives there than here in the States. Much depends one one's priorities, as you well know, and having a lot of money never was a high priority for me. Instead, I'd rather have the security and the social opportunities for my family that is well provided there.

BTW, coming back from Sweden into the States is a lot like returning to a third-world country in comparison.
