I am a Believer, So Mock Away.

Kathryn

It was on fire when I laid down on it.
Thankfully, many atheists consider Dawkins to be a less than desirable "spokesperson" for atheism.

Your faith wears army boots!
Your faith is so backwards, that it drives an AMC Gremlin!
Your faith burns its bacon!

Atheistically
Well since Dawkins has given a mandate to the new atheist to mock those of us who are believers, I Cindy hereby give you permission to mock my beliefs.

So go ahead and mock away.

what beliefs do you have worth mocking??

nothing personal but when it comes to YEC or creationism, I think Dawkins is correct.

belief in a deity or spiritual awareness, No.

Your faith is so unattractive, that it has runs in its stockings....even when it isn't wearing stockings!

Those that mock theists, that do try to mock my beliefs, only show what they don't know. Thanks to Hollywood and fiction writers, the average person really doesn't understand what it is I do believe and what they try to mock isn't what I believe anyway. :p I usually end up just rolling my eyes and shaking my head at the absurdity of it all.

OK, I saved the most vicious mocking for last.

Your faith involves believing things which do not result in making predictions which are independently & objectively testable.

Your faith does too... or can you predict the exact nature of the next species to evolve? Let's see your prediction, then we can independently & objectively see if your prediction is valid (O - be sure to state the exact date that your prediction will come true)

so, let's hear it, what will the next species be? what will they look like? and when do we get to meet them?

That was a good one. But seriously, Jesus taught that when people want to mock you for your beliefs, you should just let them do so. In fact you should thank them and bless them for doing so.
I encourage all believers regardless of what faith they belong to, to do the same.
Good advice.
Some others could benefit from this counsel.

Faith?
I'm the one around here who doesn't believe in truth'.
And 'facts' are just popular opinions what puts on airs.

I'm a landlord & mechanical engineer, so your question is above my pay grade.
Besides, I know enuf about probablistic systems to never make overly specific predictions.

I think Jesus said to turn the other cheek, bless those who curse you, love your enemies... but he also overthrew tables at the temple, and stood up for what he believed... I'm all for open communication, but I'll always try to clear up misconceptions (that is if the other person is able to listen.... if they refuse to listen, then silence is a good response I suppose)
