I Am A Good Person, Therefore, I'm Going To Heaven!

Because the idea that good people go to hell is just unfathomable, and who would worship a God which does that?
Do they also think bad people go to heaven?

Hypothetically speaking: someone brutally tortures, rapes and murders your child. Do they go to heaven too?

Why did Jesus die on the cross?

I hear this all the time. "I'm good, therefore I'm going to heaven."

Really?

I would ask, why did Jesus bother to die on the cross then?

Keeping it short. Just want to answer.

A lot of good people acknowledge they sin sometimes.

"I am good AND I sin, therefore I deserve heaven."

In other words, I am good because Jesus blessed me AND I sin so I have faith Jesus died for me therefore I deserve heaven.

You are missing a part. To nonbelievers, the question is illogical.

If, according to Christian tenets, they confess their sins on their death beds and ask for forgiveness, then they, too, will wind up in "heaven". They might be in the mansion beside yours which, btw, will be as big and luxurious as your eternal digs.

Ketiemygirl, do you think that members of other religions deserve to be tortured for all of eternity?
We ALL sin, regardless of who or what we believe in, christians and non christians alike.

Sin is what separates us from God.

None of us is capable of being perfect. None of us could ever be good enough. That's why God sent His Son, Jesus, to die on the cross. Jesus took the punishment for us. He took our place. When He died on the cross, He took our sins with Him, making us PERFECT in the eyes of God.

Even the tiniest sin will keep us out of heaven, no matter how good we are.

Jesus said the only way to heaven is through belief in HIM.

The Word of God says that we all deserve to burn in hell-fire and brimstone (Romans 6:23; Revelation 20:13-15, 21:8). If you don't understand the nature of God and how he views sin, then you won't understand eternal punishment.

I suspect their digs will be better! :)

None of us deserves heaven. That is a gift from God that we cannot earn by being good.

Show me a Scripture that says any of us DESERVES to go to heaven.

The Word of God says that we all deserve to burn in hell-fire and brimstone (Romans 6:23; Revelation 20:13-15, 21:8).

Anyone who does good to others will be rewarded from God.
Yeshua did not die for your sins, everyone is responsible only to God for their sins - no sacrifice was made. People should stop expecting that someone else will carry their sins.

I disagree with that. Why would you not deserve it? God gave you that option. You took it.

If god felt you deserve it by dying on the cross, why do you not feel the same as god?

Reflective question

Why take something you dont deserve when the person who gave that something felt you deserved it?

Rewrite. No debate. Please reread my post.

The good person did not say he is perfect. He deserves heaven because god said he does. How? By jesus dying on the cross.

That is explicidly in scripture.

Reflective questions

Why do you not deserve heaven when the person you love said you deserve it by him dying on the cross?
