I Am A Good Person, Therefore, I'm Going To Heaven!

I think that if someone says, "I am going to heaven" it means, "I am not going to hell". The second one is true for most people.

I hear this all the time. "I'm good, therefore I'm going to heaven."

Really?

I would ask, why did Jesus bother to die on the cross then?
I suppose people have been taught that you go to heaven if you're "good". The Bible says "the upright will reside in the earth, And the blameless will remain in it. (Proverbs 2:21) I believe most of us will live forever on earth if we are upright and blameless. (Psalm 37:29) Accepting the ransom sacrifice of Jesus is part of being considered "blameless" by God, IMO.

@katiemygirl , let me suggest that this threat is more appropriate to the "Same Faith Debates" forum, since is presumes the 'New Testament' to be authoritative. So, or example, you write:

I would ask, why did Jesus bother to die on the cross then?
I assume that he did not "bother to die on the cross." On the contrary he, like tens of thousands of other Jews, was given no choice by the Romans.

Fact: Jesus died for our sins.
That is a statement of faith, not fact.

Jesus (pbuh) never claim that he will die on the cross for your sins. what's a justice God could let His son die for sins, he never commit !

that the Authors of Bible claim.

Question. Let's assume that sometime before Hitler died, he accepted Jesus and blah blah lord & saviour. Would he be in heaven?
I don't know. I am not God. Only He can see into the hearts of men.

Ummmm, by the way, didn't Hitler shoot his girfriend b4 killing himself? Just sayin'. :)

Just exactly what does "accepting Jesus as Lord blah blah blah" mean? Explain.

I don't get that "accepting Jesus as my personal savior" thing from the Scriptures. I understand it to be more like believing Jesus is the Son of God, then doing everything He says to do. You know, "Take up your cross and follow Me." That's my understanding, anyway.

Believing in the gospel, the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus, is crucial to living eternally with the Lord.

Eva killed herself with Cyanide because she wanted to leave a recognziable corpse. Hitler did cyanide & then immediately shot himself, fearing capture by a Red Army seeking vengeance.

Then consider my statement retracted, you struck me as the "belief in Jesus is the only meaningful factor" sort

I was never very good at remembering historical facts. Thanks for setting me straight. :)

To your second point, it's a belief that obeys.

Jesus is our mediator. You don't stand a chance without Him.

You do know that the term messiah was something only Jews knew about and it had nothing to do with salvation or divine being? It's nothing more than a term for Jewish king that will mark the peaceful time for Jews, there were many messiahs because it means nothing but "anointed one (by God)" if the term was close to "saviour/christ" then your argument would be valid. No human was God and God was surely not human nor will He ever be. Yeshua ﷺ was nothing more but a prophet.

That's what Muslims believe. We, christians, believe He was who He claimed to be, the Son of God.
