I believe that Jesus is a conservative.

Do you believe that Jesus is a conservative or a liberal?

Explain how conservative are like pharisees and hypocrites.

Mainly because they are following Paul as proxy Jesus instead of Jesus. Most conservatives ignore the stuff about loving your enemy as yourself, mercy not sacrifice, through the eye of a needle, story of the adulteress, etc. Instead they focus stupidly on John 3:16 and just babble about us being all sinners if you focus on their faults.

And again Ill make the point, you think Jesus would be happy demoncrats who support abortion and homosexual marriage?

I'm not even going to begin to speculate what Jesus would think about our modern world and while I don't think he would be happy with democrats he would probably be way more likely to chill and sit down with them to explain why they are wrong.

He would definitely lose his temper with the hypocritical conservatives who want to cram their belief down everyone's throat using his name as he did with the pharisees and holier than thou prigs that wanted to use Hebrew law to cram their beliefs down everyone's throat.

You misspelled "demoncrats".

You misspelled "demoncrats".

What, is "demoncrat" the standard term in conservative rhetoric these days, and not just something the other guy I was talking to made up? I hadn't realized people had sunk that low...

Jesus was not a clairvoyant who could see 1900 years into the future to the political goings on in an unknown land on the other side of the Atlantic. Probably would take the best part of a year to luckily land there as a passenger on a Roman galley.

He disdained wealth and advocated its redistribution to the poor.
His sermons on the plain and on the mount are clearly Hippie theology.

I can't say that Jesus would approve of abortion (since, you know, it didn't exist when he was alive)

Well Abortion was allowed in the OT, as long as a priest did it. So one would assume that Jesus would be okay with it.

stupid poll, Jesus would would make many reexamine their politics. His message is bigger than partisan squabbling... deal with it.

Conservative and liberal are modern constructs, see past the tip of your own nose

There haven't been many progressives in human history who were more radically leftist in their time than Jesus Christ.

Then how exactly do conservatives reconcile their political views with the following?

“And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites. For they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you." Matthew 6:5-6

“Judge not, that you be not judged." Matthew 7:1

"It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God.” Matthew 19:24

“No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money." Matthew 6:24

They said, “Caesar's.” Then he said to them, “Therefore render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's.” Matthew 22:21

"But I say to you, Do not resist the one who is evil. But if anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also." Matthew 5:39

"Honor your father and mother, and, You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” Matthew 19:19

"For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses." Matthew 6:14-15

"Give to the one who begs from you, and do not refuse the one who would borrow from you." Matthew 5:42

"Beware of practicing your righteousness before other people in order to be seen by them, for then you will have no reward from your Father who is in heaven." Matthew 6:1

"Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 4How can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? 5You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye." Matthew 7:3-5

"Put your sword back in its place," Jesus said to him, "for all who draw the sword will die by the sword. Matthew 26:52

Nicely summed up.

Which of Jesus' teachings would be considered conservative?
He always struck me as a radical Hippie.

Do you really think this is the answer?

Yes, of course. Then if she lives through it, you can throw her in jail for murder.
Can you just imagine how the jails would be filled with women? Young women especially?

At least Ezra is up front about it though.
Let the women die, or if she survives send her to jail for murder.

Most pro lifers yell "make it illegal" but then squirm around like worms,
when you ask them what the penalty for breaking the law should be.

(I used to be one of those squirmers myself. Somehow I knew deep down, there was no legal, loving answer.)
ie. if you don't enFORCE a law, it's pointless, and impotent. Powerless. Not worth the ink it's written in.

It's a complex problem, that's for sure. And I personally think a particularly human one. Without being disrespectful to any religious viewpoint (aye right!) I think that most involve an ostrich attitude, there is no squirm free position but there is a position that allows judgment on others. It's a bit like "thou shalt not kill" except under exceptional circumstances. One thing I do know for sure is that the most desparate who do go to the "most dangerous" places are not the problem and under those circumstances should specifically not be the ones bearing the brunt of a societies moral standpoint. It takes 100 million to tango.
