I Don't Want a Tattoo

Winter is upon us, and you know what that means! Yes, my husband has busted out the tattoo gun and is tattooing random stuff on himself.

I have a few tattoos, but I don't want another one; I can think of nothing of significance to permanently put on myself.

Can you think of something I need permanently etched on my skin?

Is there anything you want tattooed on you?

What do you already have tattooed on you?
I personally would never get tattoos due to the toxicity of the ink which is absorbed in the body.

I could probably get totally covered and it still wouldn't equal the amount of dye I've put into my hair.
I read a news article a few years ago about a woman who was very into healthy eating, exercising, etc. Then she started having health problems. After various tests it was found her body, especially liver was overloaded with toxins. She couldn’t understand why since she strived to make healthy lifestyle choices. Further testing revealed the toxins were the result of all the tattoos (she had many) and the ink absorbed into her system.

I got a tattoo way too young and way before average citizens thought them appropriate. I was five when I got mine. It was in kindergarden class. Yup, I had just sharpened a pencil and was goofing off with it as I walked back to my table, and it ended up getting stuck deep into my left hand near my thumb. I pulled it out and quite a bit of graphite was left in the wound. You can still see the graphite under my skin some 55 years later.

As for a tattoo in recent years, well I'm too much of a rebel to get a popular thing like a tat. Can you believe it, it's actually a sign of rebellion to not get one.

I got my pencil tattoo in second grade, right below my eyebrow. Was horsing around with someone holding a newly sharpened pencil. Took 30 years or so to fade away.

I don't do tattoos, to me the body is good enough without adornment.

A knew a lady who had a tattoo shop, she was covered in wonderful artwork, flowers and gardens, dragons and castles, and a dotted line around her throat with "cut here" above it. To me it spoiled the whole effect

I have a memorial to my daughter on my left forearm. It consists of her first name from signature from her driver's license, a dragonfly, and Uruz (ᚢ), which is a Nordic rune.

She and I were going to get tattoos together, but we never had the opportunity. Hers was drawn by her best friend, who is an artist, and is on her headstone.

I thought about it but never did. Mostly because I see what happens to tattoos when you get old.

When I was in my teens, I heard Conan O’Brien or some other talk show host joke that a woman might get a tattoo of a cherub on one of breasts when she is young, and when she becomes an old lady, the cherub will look like a dead bat.

I have zero tattoos and zero plans to get any. I dislike the idea of having any body modification that is permanent or difficult to undo.

We are in the same boat.

As an artist, I used to think of making drawings kind of like 'tattooing the paper'. And they had a look to them that would have lent themselves to being tattoos. Even many of the objects I made tended to have the look of a tattoo. And if I'd had the money when I was younger, it might have been fun to have some of those drawings tattooed on my body. But it was never to be. Tattoos just weren't such a thing back in the day.

I've never been an admirer of tattoos, or face jewelry, but I'm not bothered by those that are not too ostentatious. Perhaps some will regret it later if they get too much done, and it often just turns to mush anyway in later life seemingly. I intend to leave my body to medicine so I might have a few 'cut here' ones but in the wrong places (if there are any such).

You can't go wrong with traditional American
But what would happen if you had tattoos like that and then put on loads of weight?????

I think everything would stretch and the tattoos would all look funny

Don't put on loads of weight? I've gained 45lbs over the years and my tats look fine.
