I just want to sin!!!

I am ever-so-often told by Christians who find out that I do not believe that a god exists, that “You are denying God because you just want to sin.” This has always struck me as a bizarre thing to say, as I cannot think of anything that a Christian would consider a sin that I would have needed to leave Christianity to do.

I mean there are lots of good Christians out there doing great things, and most of you are perfectly decent people who I would probably enjoy having as coworkers and neighbors. But seriously folks, you all sin. Every last one of you. You sin inadvertently. You sin impulsively. You sin with premeditation. You covet coworkers, neighbors, friends and random strangers. You covet their stuff and their bodies. Unless you are asexual or (possibly) greysexual, you commit adultery in your hearts, and roughly 25% of you commit adultery in your pants as a married person.

Christian employees steal quarters from their coworker’s desks to buy cokes and they steal office supplies from their employers. Christian employers don’t pay a living wage, and then call the employee lazy when they refuse to work extra hours (bearing false witness). Sometimes the employer even fires them; and while there is no ‘Thou shalt not be a jerk’ commandment, the golden rule takes a beating several times a day/

You leave your parents in nursing homes when you could move them in with you. (C’mon folks! Honor your mother and father.)

You do illegal drugs. You take the lord’s name in vain. You get divorced.

And yet, You are saved by your acceptance of Jesus Christ into your heart as your own personal Lord and Saviour. Hallelujah and Amen. Sing it, Sister!

"I've been redeemed by the blood of the Lamb,
saved and sanctified I am.
All my sins are washed away,
I've been redeemed."

“unchastity, theft, murder, adultery, greed, malice, deceit, licentiousness, envy, blasphemy, arrogance, folly”

So, exactly why would I need to leave Christianity to do anything? All the “sins” I might ever commit, I could commit as a Christian. And be saved.

Sometimes the heathen are more righteous than the church goers!

Christianity seems, if not actually hell bent on depressing ones natural instincts and inclinations as if it's not natural when it actually is.

I think the real sin here is letting those things build up and build up and under pressure to a dangerous level. Keepng it all inside and never letting it out? ? Not healthy at all.

Only pure and goodly deeds are acceptable to God. The hypocritical are not forgiven unless they change. Just verbal belief means absolutely nothing to God. Belief and obedience are one process. You can’t be a believer in God if it’s purely verbal.

In the Bible it says that.

Not everyone who says to Me, “Lord, Lord,” will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter. Many will say to Me on that day, “Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?” And then I will declare to them, “I never knew you; DEPART FROM ME, YOU WHO PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS.” Matthew 7:22-23

Given that murder, rape and other crimes are also sins, I disagree with the extreme assertion that letting it all out is a good thing.

I'm more inclined to say that keeping it all in can lead to an explosion that can be far worse than letting it out naturally keeping that pressure manageable.

I am not sure what your point is. You seem to be implying that people who sin are not real Christians. Which would mean that there are no real Christians. None

Think about it's really saying for a moment. Think what it's really asking. It's not about considering how others may want to be treated, it revolves entirely around how "I" want to be treated.
I totally agree. Treat people how they want to be treated, including yourself

Ah, but when would you be saved?

Don't forget that before the reformation, there were no protestants.
Catholicism says that sinners can go to hell, or purgatory if you prefer.

Better late than never. Better never late.

The issue is yourself isn't a good place to start for moral considerations. If I did this I'd leave shopping carts scattered about at grocery stores because I'd want that extra time outside. But I don't do that because I realize to most people it's considered rude.

Ah, but if you are Catholic, you can go to confessional, repent and be absolved.

Sure. But it's not and all or nothing proposition. It's a balance between others and yourself. If I only treated others as they wish to be treated then I would have to breach moral boundaries that I'm not willing to.

You are sooooo right and, unfortunately, there are people who say things like the one you just mentioned.

Certainly, you have the right and they have the wrong (whoever said that to you).

Scriptures are very clear... "For ALL have sinned and come short of the glory of God".

Was it your desire just to air our your correct viewpoint?

Catholicism says that sinners can go to hell, or purgatory if you prefer.

But Catholics have the sacrament of confession in which a person can admit their sins in repentance and gain pardon from the intercessing priest. You can be Catholics, commit sins, and gain pardon. The point of the OP still stands, being Christian doesn't prevent you from sinning even willingly and repeatedly. It's completely unnecessary to leave a religion to commit certain acts or even not feeling very guilty about committing certain acts.

All you need is love.
I've heard Christians cuss and take God's name in vain. I've seen Christians lust after another person, divorce and re-marry, lie to my face, and take something that's not theirs. I've had Christians tell me that they hate me because I won't support Trump.

As far as I'm concerned, Christians aren't any different than the unbelievers they often look down upon. They aren't more morally righteous than unbelievers. I realize I'm getting a bit personal when I reveal that the majority of these Christians are conservative evangelicals. That's been my experience during the 31 years I was a Christian. It's been more prevalent during the years of Trump.
