Day two, still smoke free. As soon as I got into my truck this morning, I reached for a smoke out of habit. I made sure there was none there yesterday. :D

We want a daily update, okay? if you tell yourself that there are a couple of hundred RFers who want to know that you've made it through another day, it will make it easier not to slip backwards. I know that works when you're on a diet, so I'm assuming it would work when you're trying to break a bad habit, too.

So :shout go, go, go, Rick!!!!!

Congratulations! Remember though: don't not smoke because you have a rule not to. You must decide to stop. You can have one whenever you want to, but it's your decision. keep us updated

Oh, I want one, but I have made it half way through day 3 now without giving in to temptation. I would be so upset if I slipped up now. I keep telling myself that that cigarette will not be as good as my urge to smoke it thinks it will.

I keep telling myself that every day will get easier, but so far, it seems to be getting harder. I REFUSE TO GIVE IN TO TEMPTATION!

The fact that you've made it so far is proof that you have the self-control you need to do this. I bet when you start noticing the physical changes in how you feel, etc., it will start getting a little bit easier. So far, you're not seeing any positive results of your choice, only the temptation to go back to the habit.

Hey Rick, how's day 4 going?
I made it through day 4 and still smoke free. I try to not spend time where I used to sit and smoke, (like my back porch). My cat misses me. I had to spend time with her last night. I am her person. Cats choose people, not the other way around.

I am starting day 5 now. I don't feel any better, I can't wait for that to happen. Thanks for asking!

Good on you, five days is a block of achievement to build from. If you find yourself experiencing bad cravings a five minute walk often does the trick.
Fair play to you for beating them.

OMG, Rick....you're doing fantastic!

Maybe you can counsel my husband if or when he decides to quit smoking. He's tried several times to quit, and has never been able to make it. He admits that he would like to someday, but he still loves it. *sigh*

I'm so happy for you. Keep it up!! :clap2:

Dr. Oz, on the Oprah Show, says to get medical help if necessary. Like the "patch". Many just can't do it on their own.

Rick--we are all cheering for you.

Good for you Rick! I know it must be terribly difficult, and I am sure it will be a long time before the cravings start to go away, but you can do it! You owe it to yourself - you are worth it! Everyone is rooting for you!!

Rick our prayers are with you. Each day is a success that you don't smoke. If you slip that doesn't undo all the good effort you put into your quitting smoking. God will make up the additional strength you don't have yourself.

Violet.
Great idea!

It is I know.:flirt:

However it is also just a bit self serving.
Honestly I've grown tired of the Reverend returning my corsets and boas
smelling like a stale yer old ashtray.
(He doesn't exactly return things right away either.
and sometimes he gives my stuff to Heather.
But those are problems for another year perhaps.):D

For now, It will cut down on my dry cleaning bills.;)
