I think we should be allowed to put staff on ignore.

Yes,there should be an ignore option for staff. Many times in the past I have encountered a couple that just purposely said things to aggravate you.Power goes to the head with some. That is a great suggestion about being able to put them on ignore, but them still being able to contact you, by PM, if need be,for other reasons of course.I have not had any issues anymore, now that they are gone.:D Most of the staff is great. They are like big brothers and sisters watching over us.Lol...

If you're a Mac user, and thus much more cool, groovy and savvy than mere Windows slaves to the corporate gulag users, :) here's a little free app that will allow you to put entire websites on ignore.

SelfControl

I forget, maybe the entire net too.

They're given lavish offices, 1% class pay, sumptuous free meals, & obsequious personal assistants.
Tis no wonder so many suffer from "Mods Are Gods Syndrome" (MAGS).
Just look at Quagmire!
He's so impressed with himself that he even has special air fresheners made for himself....

A long time ago I put a member on ignore..............
.........but it only lasted a very short time.
I just had to read his posts so that I could chuck some more back at him!

When this thread started I was supportive in theory, but personally had no mods I wished to ignore. Until today. So now I'm supportive in practice too.

I see the ignore function as a handy device for managing my own limitations. And I like the way this forum software handles ignores, it seems superior to other implementations I've seen.

Sometimes I just get too involved in a particular conversation. Enthusiasm is my um, best and worst feature. The ignore function helps me disengage from conversations, and particular posters, where the future is likely to be grim for both of us.

The other limitation I sometimes struggle with is that I'm probably three times older than a great many of my fellow members, and thus I experience some conversations as being unbearably slow.

Imagine that you are incurably interested in the subjects addressed here (which probably isn't too hard for you to imagine) but the only place you had to discuss those subjects was a third grade classroom. It's kinda like that sometimes.

I certainly don't blame young people for being young and inexperienced, and certainly agree my impatience with their entry level conversations is entirely my problem, but nonetheless managing that problem is assisted by the ignore function.

So yea, I cast my vote for being able to ignore mods too. If they are going to engage in threads like any other member, we should be able to put them on ignore like any other member.

Usually to avoid dealing with people who gets on their nerves.
Yup.

It is a two-edged sword at best, though.
Actually, I see myself a bit like an addict. When people start being rude to me, I so easily pick up and start being rude back. I just don't want to be that person, so most of the time, I just put people on the ignore because they're the kind that will trigger the worst in me. I know there's the chance I miss some good stuff from some people, but in the long run, it's just better for me, personally.

Just a suggestion.

As much as I believe in the freedom of choice, including putting the staff on ignore, I'm afraid this could stand on the way of important administrative comments that could be posted any where.

I'm think it is a good compromise. I still wouldn't rule it out completely tho, as staff in non administrative posts are equal to any other members.

I hope I don't get in trouble for that last comment :p

I don't ignore members. Any members.
I ignore threads, apart from the odd occasion when I fail to notice that a thread is private or DIR.
I only post on 'open' threads.
If I could put all private and DIR threads onto 'cannot be seen' then I would!! :D

Yeah, it's too easy to overlook the restricted forum....
- The forum name is in a smaller & faded font relative to the OP title.
- The color coding from the old forum is gone.....but staff still refer to color based restrictions.

Ok, but, but, where the heck is the Deplore Button??? Or at least a Snore Button so that we could visibly go to sleep in response to mod comments we find tedious. And really, I mean, c'mon, we're gonna need a Gore Button sooner or later, right? And how about a Whore Button, like say, if you suddenly got the urge to purchase sexual services from one of the mods? Why are the mods hiding all these buttons from us, what are they up to???

I would love to be able to hide all such threads from sight.
If it's not open to all, then it's not safe for all.

Better yet....let the system simply not accept posts from posters who haven't signed up for a particular DIR.
That beats finding out by receiving a warning from Spanky & Slappy.
