I was just given my first conker of this year

They are for playing. With one hand, throw the others in the air and then pick one up from the ground, without letting the first ones fall.

We called that knuckles here and used the dried bone joints from legs of lamb.

What do you do with them?
They are very pretty. But you cannot eat them. They are mildly poisonous and taste like it. I had some horse chestnuts and thought that they were chestnuts. They look rather similar but even when roasted they are so bitter that they force you to spit them out even the tiniest of bits. Which may be a good thing. I did not suffer from any form of poisoning.

If I see some this year I will harvest them, but only as decoration.
