Iceland to ban porn on the web because of children

Anyway, here is a very good blog, it lists some studies/views done where negative effects of porn are highlighted.
7 Negative Effects of Porn | The Resurgence

I wasn't born yesterday, Pegg. If you have any links to scientific studies -- rather than to a scattering of possibly cherry picked quotes from studies, please by all means link me to them. Otherwise, quit wasting my time. My time may not be valuable to you, but it is to me.

That would be my primary concern with such a path as well. However, personally, I feel that more reasonble attempts should be made to limit the free availability of porn on the internet to anyone with a browser open. Particularly with the prevalence of all types of pornography which portray illicit, violent, and/or extremely degrading acts. I don't know if there are any studies which have tested the negative effects of scat or donkey porn on 7 year olds, but, apart from the problems of setting up such a study, I don't think it's too unreasonable to assume that repeated long-term exposure from a young age to such things probably doesn't promote mental and emotional health.

I'm inclined to agree with you, Trout. I can't see a whole lot redemption in scat or donkey porn, and the thought of kids watching violent porn appalls me. Still, I would like to see more science on it. Maybe that's just me.

Do you think it's reasonable to base rules and regulations on a hypothetical reaction of your remembered self?

It's more that I don't think such regulations would even be all that necessary, since such children would probably not enjoy porn.

Besides, I remember similar reactions from most pre-pubescent children regarding sexuality. The only enjoyment they'd get out of porn would be the same type they get out of Ren and Stimpy.

HOWEVER, because that is only based on my memories, I'm open to being proven wrong if psychological and behavioral studies demonstrate the opposite. Whether there are regulations or not should not be dependent on one person's memory.

The likelihood of porn being effectively banned is very very low.
Domestic pornographic pictures were in full view in Roman times. Pornographic statuettes predate civilisation.
The Puritanical Victorians revelled in it.
It will no doubt vary in importance as times and moral attitude change.
Like prostitution it is here to stay.

They should be grown enough to understand the difference between reality and fairy tale.

There are some consenting adults who enjoy BDSM and wouldnt do so without another consenting partner and a safe word. They have a better understanding of stuff.

Kids generally dont, way harder than they had such when it came to seek, and way more dificult that they had such in this society.

A man knows how to take responsability, a kid has no idea, and will be forming unrealistic expectations.

its a thing to the person buying it

Sure, a teacher, a massagist, a dance instructor, dancers in a theater, all of them dont provide services, but are also things

The problem with your assertion is that there is no way you can support it. Prostitutes have "doos and donts" of what they will do or acept being done to them and for what money. There is no "Give me this money and you can do absolutely *literally* anything to me". That would be suicidal.

Countries thataccept prostitution (like mine) still have them recognised as people, and as such they are legally unable to sell themselves even if they wanted. They can however, sell their services. They have the right to do this.

assassins offer a service too... the fact that its being offered doesnt make the service morally right or beneficial to all involved.

Actually I rather doubt it
But I am no authority.
"Things" that you buy, you tend to keep.
Services you can walk away from.

Samuel Pepys
Would not pay more than six pence...
As he was worried what he could take away with him
he preferred very young virgins.

It seems little has changed and not for the better.

People now watch it on the web
Its safer

........ but not for the Girls.
