If a creator exists, why worship it?

If a creator exists, why worship it?

Allah exists and has told that the believers should worship Him and Him only and taught us how to worship Him:
[1:1]In the name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful.
[1:2]All praise belongs to Allah, Lord of all the worlds,
[1:3]The Gracious, the Merciful,
[1:4]Master of the Day of Judgment.
[1:5]Thee alone do we worship and Thee alone do we implore for help.
[1:6]Guide us in the right path —
[1:7]The path of those on whom Thou hast bestowedThyblessings, those who have not incurredThydispleasure, and those who have not gone astray.

So, why shouldn't the believers worship Allah? Please

Just think of your own children if you have any, do you consider yourself narcissistic, that you are delighted to receive the smallest fraction of the love you give?

We experience grace and mercy of G-d in this world, and if we follow His guidance, we would experience much more in the hereafter.

Perhaps God knows that the benefits of worship are experienced by the worshiper, not the God. It is for our benefit not His.

Absent a creator God, ask yourself why so many diverse societies in every part of the world and at all times have created Gods to worship. Is it realistic to believe that there are no benefits from such an enduring activity?

Weren't they invented to explain what science could not explain at that time? Like lightning, rain, storms, sun rising and setting, tides, etc? What tangible benefit is there to worshiping a god?

From OP: So if humanity was created by a "god" would it want our worship? Is this "god" if it exists even worthy of worship since it doesn't interfere in our daily lives for good or ill?

There is no evidence of a god that is concerned about our affairs. There is no evidence that a hereafter of any kind exists. So if a god exists why worship something that is apathetic about my existence? From my perspective I don't see any gods who want me to worship them.

I think that would be a gross oversimplification. For example, they performed an essential social function in uniting people beyond the level of kin/tribe. Also as a way of grounding culture and acquired knowledge and creating a vehicle to pass these down to future generations. Religions just seem to be better at this than other methods have been.

Other than that, studies have shown psychological benefits for believers, etc.

That seems to be an irrelevant answer. We all know that God (supposedly) demands praise, but why does God deserve praise? What actions of God make him praiseworthy?

That's what God claims, and those who have attempted to speak in God's name, but why do you think that God is deserving of praise, personally?

What do you understand from the word "worship"? Your own understanding not from a lexicon/dictionary, please.

Actually , all those who make this claim have never seen or spoken to God(unless I missed someone's claim). They only read a book or two.

If the human race created a new sentient species in the future (doesn't really matter how in this scenario) would it make sense for us to have this new species worship us? I personally think that would be a bit odd and blatantly narcissistic.

Most parents choose to have children, knowing full well the costs and effort involved in child-rearing. Why do they do it? IMO, most want to share their love, and most expect affection and respect from their children. I believe our Creator created us to share his love and joy in living. I believe God is very concerned about each of us, and he has provided for us all materially and spiritually. He deserves our honor, respect, and love in return and yes, our worship of him as the one true God. This is not narcissism on his part, but rather an expression of his love, IMO, and in harmony with his superlative attributes of justice and wisdom.

Giving sincere praise in the form of prayer, deeds, and obedience, I suppose. So how can you sincerely worship something that may not even exist? If you saw someone sincerely praying to Zeus, would you consider it rational behavior?

That doesn't answer the question from the OP. If humans found a way to create a new sentient form of life and we told this new form of life to do what we told it to do or we would destroy them or torture them, do you think they would want to worship us? Do you think we would be worthy of their worship?
