If God actually spoke to you, would you try to obey?

Jehovah’s witnesses will say, pray to God for understanding and read the Bible and you will be enlightened to understand his word. So many Protestants will say the same thing roughly. Catholics will say the same thing, (but at least Catholics have the obvious ability to identify the obvious truth that the Bible is not the final or only authority).

So, all of the thousands of denominations of Christianity read the same book and come up with opposite beliefs or morals, indicating that the book is not trustworthy, nor is God, because they all claim that the Holy Spirit is guiding them.

So, what if God actually cared enough about you to get off his rich, selfish, narcissistic, lazy *** and actually talk to you? What if he wasn’t asking you to do anything like commit violence, condemn, judge, or kill Idolaters and what not?

What if he asked you “Worship me, visit this hospital, visit this nursing home, give this person food, give this person money, donate to this charity, forgive this enemy, be humble, be kind, don’t look at porn, don’t fornicate, don’t commit adultery, don’t be angry, don’t covet, don’t be jealous, don’t be lazy, and don’t over eat”.

Would you listen to and do your best to obey such a God? I know I would greet such a God with open arms and do everything possible to obey him.

But unfortunately, we have a God who lives with the greatest wealth imaginable while so many are starving. He has billions of people worshipping him, while so many are suffering loneliness and rejection. He doesn’t have the basic charity to just give simple instructions or the grace of understanding while so many are confused.

I had an evangelical Christian recently tell me that God would give me everything I asked for that is according to his will. So, I asked God, “What is your will that I might ask for it”. No answer, so I said “God’s will be done in and through me”.

I’m sure it’s God’s will I’m doing then. I asked God for understanding and no more confusion. Is it his will that I have no confusion? I guess I’m just as confused as God wants me to be

Long ago I would have. Now, the answer is absolutely 'No.' I think it is not unfaithfulness talking but experience. There are gods and then God. God is eternal and unchanging, but gods are like we are. Gods are beings like us, not better than we are I say. They have their own foibles and troubles and are no different I say, if they are separate beings and exist. Now....if a god were to tell me to do something I would give it consideration...but God? No. That would not be right. God does not bend the knee to man I think or bend down I think. It is not right. Therefore if God, hypothetically, spoke to me I would be duty bound to resist. If on the other hand I were inspired then maybe. If I somehow sensed God's will then perhaps yes.

I believe that hearing genuine voices, happens to people. But it would take a lot -- and I mean a lot -- to convince me that it was from Jehovah!

I would flatly reject any voice I would hear.

God doesn't work that way....but the Devil does.

Since to me the voice of God is an inner voice, not an old man suspended in the sky yodeling directives in my ear, I listen to that "voice". Or to eliminate the auditory word, I pay attention to the inner prompting to try to get ever better at being loving.

God wants you to follow what u feel. If you dont believe in the bible thats ok trust me. Be honest with yourself an follow your heart in these matters. God gave you a compass to follow, mans laws brought the possibility of a god or a karma depending on how u view your role in the world or what you was influenced into. See why your are so divided its that things are not right an god is trying to tell you investigate this feelings talk about these things. An a word of advice that i learned is ask others questions that u have in church. ask others that you dont see as a "religious". You will be stunned after about 10 ppl. Hint: compass........ One good rule of god is. God does not take. Why would he when everything you have was given. good luck an its not what others think its what rings true to you. An plus god a gave you choice not to be controled or sacrifice. If you really have to be like that doesnt seem like free will to me

I would do anything for my God! So yes, if he actually spoke to me (as he has on occasion!) I would gladly, as I was able to to the best of my ability, do as he asked of me as I have in the past.

I'd see a psychiatrist to rule out any mental condition possibly causing me to hear voices. I'd also wonder if I was hearing some sort of spirit or another entity than an omniscient, omnipotent god if I ruled out any voice-producing mental condition.

It seems to me that Occam's razor makes it so that "God is directly talking to you" is one of the least likely explanations for such an occurrence. As exciting as it could be to directly talk to a deity (if one existed in the first place), I don't see it happening in any kind of remotely realistic scenario. Even aliens are just as likely or possibly more likely to communicate with us, as far as I'm concerned.

Not tell you what to do, just do it, progressively, more and more, and better and better, from inside of you. I suspect that if I did not want to do what 'it' says, I would decide it was not God. And I would justify this position based on the fact that "God" could only make itself known to me in a way that I could accept, and understand. I would not be able to accept or understand "God" giving orders to do things that I do not believe I should be doing. If I had been Abraham, there's no way I would ever have agreed to murder my own son. Nor anyone else. Because I would never have accepted such a command as being in any way divine.

Thank you brother. God does not take. I agree 100%. Its more likely that abraham. Was influenced to do so to show dedication to his ruler or group. Not to god. An he seen reason an didnt do it an thanked a higher power. Back in those day death was normal. So something changed that day
