If God is love

Muffled

Jesus in me
The Biblical accounts of the deeds carried out by the god featured therein are far from loving, more the acts of a psychopath!

Welcome to RF.

I have heard that said before but it seems to me to be a perverted view of God.

I believe if you don't know God you have no idea of what love is.

1) Who said that there is right and wrong path? Those categories are too limited to describe the marvelous complexity of the cause-result laws of nature

Yes, there are probably an infinite number of paths.

But

Some of those involve good, some involve evil, and some (I suspect a large majority) are neutral.

3)Have you ever heard that most diseases are psychosomatic? Our mind is the source of suffering, not punishing God.[/QUOTE]

Is death psychosomatic? Our psyches might make some of them worse, or some of them better, but very few are totally fabrications of the mind. Pain and suffering and death are real.

The Biblical accounts of the deeds carried out by the god featured therein are far from loving, more the acts of a psychopath!

Making the God of those accounts unloving, and certainly, nonexistent. The only possible God is a non-interventionist God.

Hello and welcome to my discussion and please do not disrespect others, thank you.

When we think about those leading down the wrong path, we tend to not blame God for their failures, correct?
What about those born with devastating terminal illnesses like cancer?
Millions die every year due to so many diseases, correct?

How is God love, may I ask?

Have you ever studied the human immune system? It is designed to repel all invaders. If this wonderfully designed system worked as it should, no human would succumb to any disease or suffer as a result of it. Our first parents threw us into this mess and lost perfect life for all their children by their disobedience. (Romans 5:12) Jesus came to get it back for us.
The Revelation is confirmation that all will end the way it started, but with a much wiser population of humans who will never want to rebel against God again.

Revelation 21:1-5:
"And I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the former heaven and the former earth had passed away, and the sea is no more. 2 I also saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God and prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 With that I heard a loud voice from the throne say: “Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his people. And God himself will be with them. 4 And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.” 5 And the One seated on the throne said: “Look! I am making all things new.” Also he says: “Write, for these words are faithful and true.”

Faith, hope and love are the things that keep depression over the sorry state of the world, at bay. God provides these in abundance when we study his word.

Clinical depression however, needs a little extra help, provided ATM by the medical profession.

Psychosomatic disease can lead to death. Pain is not real as well as death. Have you heard about hipnosis? If you make your brain think that it does not feel pain, you will not feel pain. Death is real, but who says it should be bad?

Would you consider me moral if I were a genius biologist who created a virus that turns people into baby killing maniacs, with the sole purpose of letting people educate themselves and learn from it?

Society will protect themselves from those trying to kill others.

Knowledge is a funny thing. Through adversity, one can blindly stumble into discovering great things that will advance mankind in so many ways. Every bad thing that happens can bring good things. Your baby killing virus might lead scientists to a cure for many other diseases which will extend life longer. If we look at past history, mankind is living longer and longer due to overcoming the adversities of the medical problems people have encountered. The system is working.

So often, it is easier, due to hurt, to see only what is on the surface. In reality, more knowledge exists beyond that. One must be open enough to expand the view in order to get the entire picture.

How do the events of the world change things? It is always for the better in the longer term. For the babies who do not make it, they are eternal and have often volunteered before they were ever born in order to teach and advance others.

The Love of my life died of lung cancer and never smoked at all. I have a choice to value the hurt of loosing her or celebrate the wonderful joy we had. I choose to celebrate. Further, perhaps the influences she made on me lives on through my interactions with others. See, everything that happens changes so many through the ripples of changes of so many. The dynamics and reaches are amazing. So much happens that one can be unaware of. As a whole, it will get better in spite the Drama.

Let's also remember that with so many dying of cancer, mankind pushes forward toward discovering advances that will help so many in the future. All is not lost.
