Setting aside the usual glib anti-capitalist cliche,
how is our economy better by spending taxpayer
dollars to manufacture things to be given away
& destroyed?
Spending on something like....let's say free health
care would do some real economic good.

Well, if you look at a map, you would see that NATO could strike at vulnerable parts of Russia from Latvia and Estonia. St. Petersburg and Russia's northern seaports could be immediately threatened and cut off right away.

If Ukraine is a member of NATO, then NATO could launch an attack from Ukraine, making it a two-pronged attack and be able to grab Moscow in relatively short order.

So, they do have legitimate concerns about their own national defense. A strong NATO force attacking from the Baltics and Ukraine could do a lot of severe damage to Russia.

Yeah....NATO is such a juggernaut of united countries,
just salivating at the chance to invade & conquer Russia.
Call me a cynic, but I seriously doubt that Putin fears
NATO...which is a bunch of noisy, squabbling, infighting,
uncoordinated, little children. He uses NATO as a lame
pretext for conquest.

We borrow the money and then give it to the rich to make weapons. And we also tax the people making the weapons, and fighting the wars with them, and give that to the rich, too.

The "economy" in a capitalist system is the rich getting richer. Human lives are irrelevant. Where the money comes from is irrelevant. All that matters is that money invested captures a fat return. Meaning the rich get richer.
