If you believe in reincarnation...

As for Buddhists, I'm not quite clear on their take of reincarnation.
Simples. No soul. No self. No reincarnation of said items.

"Reincarnation means there is a soul that goes out of your body and enters another body. That is a very popular, very wrong notion of continuation in Buddhism. If you think that there is a soul, a self, that inhabits a body, and that goes out when the body disintegrates and takes another form, that is not Buddhism."

What do you think this means?

Look up the definition of Meditate.

Krishna is the Supreme Being who can pull you out of the cycle of reincarnation after death.

I encourage you to read the Bhagavad Gita.
Thank you for your insightful suggestions.

Twilight Hue

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
I believe in reincarnation differently from hindus for example. As for Buddhists, I'm not quite clear on their take of reincarnation. Hindus teach that your soul is compelled to randomly reincarnate due to karma in your past life until you achieve the Moksha state by constantly meditating on Lord Krishna. Where I diverge from there is that I believe you have a choice in the matter after your very first incarnation.

They come from God Consciousness. Your soul evolves with each earthly experience you have.

Population size doesn't matter. Each new earthly life is first dependent on what the soul wants to experience on the earth. Then the earthly life sprouts to accomodate the particular soul's experience. The body is the soul's host. It's all predetermined.

No, there are an infinite amount because God Consciousness can produce them plus all of the souls that have already existed and evolved through many reincarnations on the earth.

That depends. If no already existing souls want to partake in a particular experience which is reliant on this specific body, then a new soul is created to fulfill the role. This is the first and only time, in my opinion, that a soul is compelled to randomly incarnate into any life.

No. God consciousness can create a mass influx of souls faster than that if He wanted to.

The only thing we will run out of is space on the earth for human life eventually.

Hope this helps.
In spite of people arguing to the contrary, Buddhists don't address or acknowledge reincarnation nor rebirth for that matter. That matter is a personal distinction and preference.

Where do all of the new souls come from?

As the population of the Earth grows and each new body needs a soul, how does that work?
Are there a finite number of souls?
Are new souls created to supply the extra bodies?
Do souls divide like cells to become two new souls?
Will we ever run out?
I don't know is my answer to all the questions.

I do, based on personal experience and some reflection, consider the possibility that what people call "the soul" is actually a colonial entity made up of a number of parts, some or all of which can move on to other incarnations/activities/locations once the current incarnation ends...if not before...

And as our population grows, the plant, animal and fungi kingdom shrinks and those forms of life get devastated. That is where those Spirits come from imo.

This is something I've thought on more lately.

This I find terribly interesting, and is also something I've been wondering on.

Have any more insight to shed on either of these?
Insight? probably not.

My speculation runs that 'souls' comprise a collection of 'spirit' entities, which come together as a body to be a person (human or other-than-human). I think they can move on together through incarnations, but that each can really take an independent path. My 'experience' of having lived as a mixed-race Australian merchant marine, followed by a life as a spanish-speaking equestrienne, followed by my current incarnation makes sense this way...only parts of my 'soul' actually took part in those incarnations...and have carried memories forward to me. When this current incarnation ends, I will not be surprised if parts of 'me' stay with my remains, or associated with the places I have lived and loved, or proceed to any number of post-life places or activities, including becoming part of a new person. Other parts might become parts of other persons.

I'm not sure that some of these component spirits can't leave or join during an incarnation. Certainly, all the matter and energy that makes up our physical bodies are in constant flow...all the hydrogen atoms in my body right now will be gone and replaced within six weeks or so...calcium takes a bit longer, on the order of seven years if I remember correctly, or it might be longer. Anyway, we are not a static body, we are a pattern of material flows and energy that persists in the environment for a period of time...I suspect any spiritual components do likewise...

Does that help?

Actually, that helps a lot. Thank you.

All I really know is that Aretha Franklin was the Queen of Soul.

But then, if I like soul music in this life, does that mean I'll like soul music in the next life? Will my soul still have soul? :p

I speak from a rare, IME, point of view. I believe in reincarnation with a Christian foundation, so therefore have been told multiple times I cannot be a Christian. LOL That's quite alright. IMO, we are sat down where and when we need to be in order to continue our journey properly.

Anyhow, my belief, very simplisticly, is that all souls originate with God and are incarnated into this physical existence by God (Jer 1:5) with the intention that we learn to be more like Him. (Newborn spirit to adult spirit)

I believe Lucifer, Satan, Beelzebulb, whatever name you chose, as a disgruntled Headangel (because angels cannot be anything else), was given the task of Headmaster with his first student Adam & Eve, the one soul split into two physical beings. As Adam and Eve produced offspring, more baby spirits were introduced into the classroom of the world.

When the physical body dies, it is my opinion the soul returns to God while the material (body) and energy (life-force/ego) is reconfigured to accept a new student-soul, or a "graded one."

This "graded" soul has been through their first judgement and is returned with a personal curriculum (additional karma) for their next phase in learning to "overcome the world." (1 John 5:4)

What makes Jesus special, IMO, is he is the first to graduate (Rev 1:5), the firstborn of the dead. I believe he was Adam&Eve, and very likely Melchizedek, and though not a god in the flesh, now elevated to a Demi-god sitting at the Father's right. I believe this is the destiny of all who choose it, and when Jesus said he was The Way, it was because he knew if he could hold on to his faith through his brutal death, he would not return again (Rev 3:12) until all his brothers&sisters had completed their faith journeys and return to Paradise on Earth. When he said no one comes to the Father except by me, he was saying he has forged the road and leads the way.

And, BTW, Lucifer will by this time have been completely humbled and will sit in his rightful place to the left of the Father, IMHO.

And there you have it -- my understanding of reincarnation....

Not my viewpoint at all @Spice but nonetheless, it is interesting. Some of my most enjoyable conversations on the subject have been with Christians, and I am convinced that a lot more than is usually recognised believe in it or at least have strong suspicions.
