Finger gun war day

A designated day of the year where participants will wear a shirt that shows they are partaking in the game, there are multi colored shirts: blue, green, red etc. people will go about their day like normal but, when it's safe and they're able to do so, they will be targeting people in the same colored shirt as them in a finger gun war. If they see someone from afar, or up close, they pull out their finger guns, hide behind something for cover, do whatever they can. When someone shoots the person they spread their arms and pretend to fall back (don't necessarily have to literally fall, it's up to the person) and go "ahh" (as loud as they want, don't even have to say that. there are no rules really, it's all in jest).

If the moment doesn't call for it or if it isn't safe they could just not react to the person in the distance egging them on, or raise their hands up to show that now isn't a good time.

People in different colored shirts can chime in and defend/help someone. But people in the same colored shirts are always rivals.

I do this fairly regularly in my religious tradition - usually not so formalized but on a regular basis there's something to celebrate. That's a lesson that could be brought forward to culture at large. There are so many things to celebrate and be thankful for. Be spontaneous about it, be creative on the fly. Maybe you're an avid RPG aficionado and want to celebrate the release of the latest edition of your favorite ruleset. Or you survived a land-hurricane and want to celebrate the coming together of your community to help each other out and recover. That garden you've always wanted to do finally bore its first harvest, celebrate it!

Reverse Valentine's Day, AKA Hate Day. People would exchange rotten cakes and withered flowers with their hated ones, along with sending them black heart emojis and cards bearing such beautiful phrases as "I hate you more than I hate doing my taxes!" and "My life wouldn't be the same without knowing you—it would be much better!"

A children’s day!

We have a Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and grandparents day. I think the children should be celebrated too!

It exists in Brazil. It is October 12. Children generally receive gifts from their parents on this day.

I agree with @an anarchist that there ought to be a Children’s Day in the US.

It is good to see that it exists in Brazil, and it’s coming up soon!

Here in Korea, Children’s Day is celebrated every 5th of May. It is a red day or public holiday, so children get the day off from school and so do people who earn a salary. At the academies where I work, we teachers hand out goodies to the students on the weekday nearest Children’s Day.

By the way, there is Parents’ Day in Korea, but no Mother’s Day or Father’s Day. It is observed on the 8th of May.

That is really creative and a lot of people would probably have a great time with that as a holiday.

Immigrant Appreciation Day

That’s a great idea for a holiday. It should make immigrants feel honored and also appreciated by individuals who observe it as a holiday.

I suspect that this is what many holidays in the ancient world were like. One Hellenic holiday that I recall reading about was basically an annual celebration of a city becoming free of a plague one year. Today, an annual celebration somewhere where people survived a hurricane or some other storm and helped each other out would be a meaningful celebration for the communities in the region.

"Wednesday day". that is every Wednesday should be a public holiday with no work. I choose Wednesday rather that Monday or Friday because with Wednesday you never work more than two consecutive days.

I did this once, at a job where I was contracting and they were OK with my working a 4-day week. I would dedicate the day to me. No housework, projects, or other "useful" stuff. Just things I enjoyed doing. It helped that my spouse at the time worked a full week and she wasn't at home on MY day.

And the could celebrate New Country Day. I'm imagining one heck of a multicultural feast!

I would make Towel Day an international holiday. A bathrobe is optional, but a towel is mandatory.

Unfiltered Reality Day

On this day everybody everywhere would get in line at their local drugstore, clinic, or one of the many kiosks set up the night before to get an injection of truth serum, and then spend the rest of the day sitting in front of a mirror.
