Indeed thought of sinning can lead to sin. However Abraham didn't think of killing his son and as a result went about it. He was following direction without thought of his own, just as he did when God told him to leave his land. He didn't contemplate where he would go or how he would get there or how he would sustain his existence. He simply had Faith in the direction and will of God.
Yes, he was an ignorant automaton, a lemming. I know.

Why anyone would expend faith on a psychopathic sadist is beyond me.

Ignorant of what? Faith isn't something you expend but something that grows with you. Are you aware that you are disrespecting not only the dead, but the ancestor of a vast majority of humanity?

Ignorant of the folly of doing the bidding of a sadist. Only a moron would kill his kid because The Great Cosmic Pupfart told him to.

And you can ride the PC train on your own. I call them as I see them.

Where was his folly? Did he kill his child?

Don't no what a pc train is. I follow no one at all. Never have, never will. My Faith in GOD and the direction of my life as a result are genuine. I was atheist for over twenty years. That wasn't because of any one else's influence either. You can do what you want, as can I, but I do humbly ask that you do not assume or stereotype me, as I assure I will give you the same respect.

Peace

RRex is basically saying that if the dead are so offended/hurt/disrespected they can come back and tell him themselves. The fact that you're assuming the mantle of disrespect on behalf of those who, in reality, aren't in a position to care either way shows that you're trying to play the typical politically correct card of 'I'm offended' to silence RRex's position.

I think. Rrex, is this an accurate summary?

No, only because an angel stopped him. He was too stupid to figure out on his own that you don't murder someone just because a psychopath tells you to.
You seem to be equating the will of the One Creator GOD to the will of man. That is a really big problem with many, including many Christians. I'm pretty sure someone already stated that the angels do the will of GOD.

I'm sorry you hold such loathsome feelings towards a good man, and are quite confused on the concept of GOD.

May you find peace in your journey for truth.

Peace

I'm not offended, but also wouldn't speak low of the dead.

That's pretty close, yes.

In Greek mythology, Agamemnon was to sacrifice his daughter Iphigenia to Artemis, although (in some versions) she was saved when Artemis swapped her for a deer (or a goat) at the last minute.

Coincidence?

Confusing. It would be nice to get to the bottom of all this ridiculous sacrificial behavior. Who started it, why, where. Then go back in time and whack the guy for the benefit of mankind.

It's not about the dead caring exactly. It's just a standard of conduct. Sort of like talking **** behind someone's back who can't defend themselves. I do neither. Feel free to do whatever you want.

Isn't that a vegetable or something? What does that have to do with speaking ill of the dead.

For the third time; do what you want. I can recommend things but am not responsible for your own actions ultimately.

I don't think "speaking ill" of Abraham will result in any consequences.

This discussion has, however, been fruitful. I've realized in the last half hour that I still hold many atheistic viewpoints simply because they make more sense than the alternative.

If, on the other hand, I am destined to fry, that is my worry not yours.

One shouldn't act any way due to reward or consequence, but because they understand it to be the right thing to do.

Peace to you as well.
