Since atheism isn't a belief system, what you are actually saying is "I believe there is no such thing as not believing in a God". So that's a belief. Atheism isn't.

That makes no sense. Atheism means "a lack of belief in a God or Gods", so to "not believe in atheism" means "to not believe in a lack of belief in a God or Gods" or "to believe that there is no lack of belief in a God or Gods".

From a linguistic standpoint this strikes me a pretty low fruit. After doing a search on the term, all the examples I found, were not particularly compelling to denote a new word - as if it has utilitarian meaning.

People have their causes for lacking belief, usually other beliefs which are not made explicit.

Notice that there is a difference there. Aatheism does not require an actual belief in deity, etc.

Not necessarily. Just a nonadherence to the idea that there aren't deities.
An aatheist could be a theist, or just not hold an opinion on it. This differentiates between "atheism"implying no deities, and merely the disbelief in making that assumption, etc.
