I'm Developing An Unhealthy Sense That.....

Tesla is the car for idiots.
COPS: Motorist Driving TESLA 82 MPH -- While Asleep...
Could it be that the kind of person who drives them is
the kind who admires the likes of Tesla's creator?
I know it's not fair to seem them all as blithering idiots.
Still....
A San Francisco man who was arrested for riding in the back seat of his Tesla as it drove on the highway says he'll keep pulling the stunt after being released from jail — and he'll keep buying more cars as they get impounded.

Billie Eilish's brother Finneas bought one when he and Billie had finally made enough money to get their "dream cars". But he got rid of it after only a couple months saying it was unusable most of the time. I don't know what he bought in it's stead.

I'm not sure they're all idiots, but I will suggest they have no taste in car styling.

Teslas, IMO, are some of the ugliest cars and SUVs on the market.

Could be. They are of course dealing with a unique design feature that no other automobile has had before. They have no grille. They do not need to dump massive amounts of waste heat so there is no hideous opening in the front of the car that needs to be "prettied up". The first designers rarely get the looks right when it comes to new features.

I like the idea of ending the lavish tax subsidies
propping up Tesla's pricey toys.
That will happen soon enough. They will become cheaper over time and appropriate taxes will be charged on cars using internal combustion engines.

That was not the cure that I was talking about.

I'm no designer, but surely I could have come up with something better than this.

Heck, they're even selling grill decals so they don't look so strange...

They're going to have to make electric cars more consumer friendly. As they are, they pretty much have to go to a manufacturer certified mechanic (not even the normal ASE certified) and most regular mechanic shops who won't bleed you dry rarely work on them or even change the oil.
And not to mention we need better batteries for them.

He should be be jailed then for his brazen willingness to endanger others.
Yes. It is past time to go fully automated. He was able to set a high rate of speed because the car only has "auto-pilot". Self driving cars are already far safer than human driven ones They have an exceptionally low accident rate per miles driven. That does not mean that they are perfect, but look at how many car accidents that there are every single day.

Better batteries would be nice. And there is a promising candidate out there. But they already have more than enough cruising range for the average commuter. And more cars will mean more mechanics. Standard economics will take over.

Im not denying anything. But people getting these cars and thinking they can nap, be drunk, be in the backseat, or otherwise inattentive it seems we may need to require owners of these cars to take safety courses so they know they can't be doing such things.
