I'm leaving for a while

I just joined and feel the same way. Every morning I tell myself, Okay, why are you here? To make things better not worse. It is too bad, but to make a spiritual omelet, I don't only break the eggs, I stir them up and fry them. I add a lot of ingredients to spice things up. Some of my concoctions are inedible, some grow on you (and maybe in you). I'm really trying to help the conversation, but sometimes the things I say don't help. It sounds like you were one of those that truly did help the conversation. Clear your head and come back soon.

If you need to rest (and I really see your point), then by all means do.

But be assured that you are well liked here.

It's all irritating me right now, but mostly, it's just boring me. I'm wasting my time on the forum when I should be using it more productively. I'm often getting drawn into posting in threads on the most trivial of crap that I don't care much -- and sometimes -- even one bit about. I noticed I'm getting snappy, which was the reason for thinking it's a good idea to go for a while.

A shame, but totally understandable. Breaks from this place are nice, and I find myself having to take them more and more often. Take it easy, ditch the stress, find that production of yours, and let us know how it is going when you are readys to come back! :beach:

I can respect someone leaving for those reasons listed in the OP.

I think about what I'm doing posting in forums. It's the condensed microcosm of the world macrocosm online. Everything one would never encounter face to face in a condensed version that occupies enough time responding to if one is of a mind, so as to find one's backside is going numb for losing track of time responding to not much.

What will it accomplish in the end? Will contributions change anyone's mind? Will a page of posts make for a better real world? Or will we just once again log in to voluntarily allow ourselves to be ticked off, inspired to assume the best about someone, find something positive about ourselves, or launch into the defensive, as if an anonymous pseudonym is a real threat to anything we think, believe or do. Or will we laugh awhile at and/or with one another.

What's the point of spending irretrievable moments of a one and only life we know we're living now, doing something that actually accomplishes nothing real. It's almost like the point of listening to talk radio. Why? You can't talk back. And so all you're doing is acting as an eavesdropper while others speak about and to issues that inspire emotional reactions you can do nothing about except lodge them in your psyche so that they end up changing your world view for the worse, in most cases and given how broadcast media is programmed now days.

Safe journey to you Odion. See ya when I see ya.
Maybe.

Odion my muse! I shall sacrifice the first herd of cats I come across in your honor to a talking panda.

It's sad because you're always full of great advice and you're very understanding! I really appreciate the conversations I've had with you. You're one of the level headed people online, you need to stay!!!

I'll miss you, Odion. I really like reading posts from "people with reason" and you are one of those people of reason.

Take care bud.
Frustration is a likely indicator that you care a lot about this place.
Thanks for caring about us, Brother.

I'm leaving RF for a while.

prabhu ji ...... come back .... we need you to keep the ballance ;)
If you want to know why, it's because I'm fed up; fed up of........
yes I know why !!!

I have had a whole six day holliday from the forum ......why ?

because like you I am fedup of hindus bashing hindus ,
of advatins bashing vaisnavas !

and I stayed from most of the sections apart from buddhism and hindu forums !

so much for santih santih santih !

(That felt good to vent. :D)
yes , ... I was resisting the temptation to have a rant but I think Ill join you .....

there are some prety oppinionated people on this forum who unfortunately dont think that anyone elses veiws count but their own ......

but ..... on the other hand there are some truely beautifull people here who have that rare quality of open mindedness and I missed them and even if the ahamkarites out numbrer the humans 10 to 1 then it is still worth it for those special few .

yes , In six days I've managed to build the framework of a website which was at least constructive !

but then I get curious for a good subject to discuss , but I agree entirely it is not worth allowing things to get you down , what I realy enjoyed recently was the post where we posted favorite bhajans that realy lifted my spirits .

anyhow stay well will be thinking of you ,

I'm leaving RF for a while.

If you want to know why, it's because I'm fed up; fed up of:

Religious bashing from ignorant anti-theists.
GBLTQ bashing from ignorant theists.
All theists being painted with the same brush.
All religious people being conflated with fundamentalist, literalist Muslims and Christians who want to take over the world in a dystopian theocracy.
"No true Scotsman" fallacies with evolution, making out evolution can't work if you believe in God.
Threads on religious people being ignorant.
Making out religious people can't understand science.
Terms like "bearded sky daddy", "magic man" applied to conceptions of God for the sole purpose of being rude.
This God-forsaken election.
Democrats bashing Republicans.
Republicans bashing Democrats.
Mormon bashing.
******** in Site Feedback whining about how RF is biased towards atheists.
******** in Site Feedback whining about how RF is biased towards theists.

(That felt good to vent. :D)

I'll miss you guys, so take care of the place while I'm gone. I was going to put this in the staff area, but it seemed unfair.

I'll come by chat every now and then, so anyone who frequents chat should see me about.

See you guys soonish.
:hugehug:

Get well soon!

Hey, don't you staff guys get to spank anyone who offends you?
Rapping some knuckles should help. If that fails, have some bacon!
