Mmm, good question. I just needed a place to think without the distractions. Turns out my most basic of thoughts haven't actually changed too much, though.

Though I don't know you yet, I completely get your reasons behind taking a break from it. I've been a moderator, along with another new member joined here the same day as me, at another site for former Christians for many years. It gets really old hearing the same old rhetoric being spewed without any real effort at dialog. I'd thought to just take off the moderator hat as you become some target for warfare when you try to bring sanity to it, but I find a new home to be better. I don't have to wear that dual-role hat of member and mod, and more than that, I enjoy the diversity of views represented here. So far, and maybe things have changed since you took a break, by comparison the discussions are light years more civil here, aside from a few evangelical types who have to have their views be the only right ones; a small percentage from what I'm used to.

Anyway, this ain't about me other than to say I really get where you're coming from! FWIW, I'm a voice of reason and moderation in discussions, but no thanks to wearing the mod hat again!

Yeah it does get really tiring and boring to hear the same old sludge spewed forth again and again, often even by the same people, which is why I needed a break from it, focus on things in real life and all.
