I'm Not a Tolerant Person

See, I don't believe in toleration. My religion is the true religion. I'm not baiting anyone here, and I'm not trolling. I'm telling you exactly how it is for me. I hate other religions. I think people in other religions are simply deluded fools who can't see the end coming, can't read the signs of the times, and cannot understand the prophecies of the Gospels and Revelation, and of course, have no idea who or what God is.

In this day and age, it's considered just good manners to tolerate everyone. But the next thing you know, you have a drag queen Lutheran preacher reading stories to children from the pulpit. I'll bet Martin Luther never saw that one coming!

If there is no true religion, then we might as well be atheists. If there is a true religion, we better stop tolerating lies. These are the end of days.

Except your religion lacks the logic and evidence needed to elevate it above other religions, thus you and they are all peas in the same delusional, foolish pod. Also, judging by your post you likely haven't heard of him, but this Jesus Christ fellow taught something called "the golden rule"; treat others as you would like to be treated. You should check out his other teachings and examples as well; you might learn something.
The point is that tolerance is a mutually beneficial two-way street. Being intolerant gives others little reason to show you tolerance.

I'm tolerant of people's sexual orientation and personal aesthetic, but not so tolerant of children being indoctrinated from an early age./QUOTE]
Is it "indoctrination" to show a child that something exists? That there are odd people, perhaps, is something you don't think children should know about?

I would argue that indoctrination is the process of filling a child's mind with "this is what you must believe," but I don't think it's indoctrination to show a kid that sometimes pets get run over on the street, that some people wear a lot of clothing and some wear little, and some the clothes that are usually worn by another gender.

How hard can it be to tell a child that "dressing up" as another gender because you feel like it is so much worse than "dressing up" as Darth Vader on Halloween?

Get serious, Jesus never had an overt sinner take up ministry with him. Jesus said it himself that they are sick and in need of rehabilitation.
So being a gay man is an overt sinner? Not conforming to social norms is being a sinner? Cultural norms are God's laws, and those who don't conform are in need of saving? Is that what you're saying?

I think you're missing the point. You aren't saved by conforming to a religious bigots' idea of what you should look like. Jesus did very much teach against judging others, and that's what that verse points to. His goal was not to turn those social rejects into Pharisees. His was the law of love, not conformity.

You know, this phrase has become more relevant to me these days.
I think views like the OP do more to shun people from the message of Jesus.
All it does is illustrate that becoming a Christian seems to mean that one should hate on others.
Even my highly conservative Christian family would rebuke that. Because you can still have a drink with those guys. If you get me

Even the Jehova’s Witnesses who would frequently knock on our door (read annoy us) were at least polite about it. Sure they would rebuke my mother’s faith. But even they at least were willing to have a pleasant conversation. Interestingly a seperate JW missionary that used to visit us, a student from West Africa, seemed to have much more success than his peers. Because he was excited to learn about people and their mundane lives and cultural practices. I’m not sure if he got into trouble for it. But it did show me that age old truth, what goes around comes around. Do unto others or “karma.” If you greet the world around you with hostility you can’t act surprised if it bites back. But if you show empathy, you’ll likely find yourself with some shown back. Jesus clearly knew this going by his approach. He only was angered by that one temple really.

Amen.

I don't believe the Bible is inerrant but 1 Corinthians 13 speaks to me:

Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. 2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body a]">[a]to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing.

At least the individual in the photo brings panache to the pulpit, church can be so boring.

Many religions seem to rely on indoctrination of the young. yuck.

Those are pretty big *ifs*, wouldn't it have made sense to present evidence that your if option is more than just an if option, but rather a true option?

And wouldn't it have made more sense to post it in religious debates where the expression of alternative views is much free-er? (That is unless you are afraid of your religious beliefs being exposed as lies)

For your information here is the religious debates forum;

Tolerance doesn't mean you think other religions are okay. Tolerance means that you are okay with society allowing people to worship the way each individual seems fit. You can think other relgions are wrong, stupid, even evil, but still be a tolerant person if you believe in freedom of religion.

And if you are saying you don't believe in freedom of religion, then I have to say there is something seriously wrong.

Exactly.

Edit: hell I've encountered them offline

Not so much for me. Hardly any of my good Christian neighbors will talk to me anymore because I'm a Biden supporter.

My neighbors would probably be more forgiving towards me if I joined the Hells Angels and got a "I love Satan!" tattoo on my arm.
