Immigrants Are Keeping America Young — And The Economy Growing

Wait... all kids are on the dole. They don't add one whit to the GNP. However, those going to school are on their way to being productive citizens. They are an investment and a good one at that. Most who come to America, legally or illegally, are here to stay. Refugees very rarely go back to their COO and that's good for us. We want to capitalize on our investment and the only way for that to happen is for them to stay.

Exactly! Rather a lot of my students don't have a country to go "back" to in any case, or would be severed from their families or put in physical danger if they did. They are citizenship bound, and would happily take advantage of a real path to citizenship (like the one Republicans killed in 2012).

Technically I am a "Hispanic". If you're trying to reference ethnically Mexican people rather than just Spanish-speaking people, then yes, I grew up in and still live in a majority chicano town. And I like it that way. The food's good, and people are decent to each other without asking questions first.

a friend of mine married a Colombian.....ans she could not be more Colombian

i showed her the book and was asking...which particular Spanish was used

she says ....It is the KIng's Spanish and no one speaks it

Given that STEM fields on all levels have a huge percentage of recent immigrants or the children of immigrants, I'd say that immigrants are one of the main reasons America is still ahead of the game.

By managing to consistently recruit the best and brightest from the world, America is able to stave off economic collapse and allow its public education to continue without any real overhaul.

A culture which worships sports stars, rappers and the Kardashians would have collapsed a long time ago were it not for immigrants.
