Immigration National Emergency

There are illegal foreigners on our soil. Personally I would go and use the police or border patrol first but I have no qualms whatsoever if Trump wants to use the military to assist with the deportations of illegals.
Not to disagree philosophically (I think you Yanks need tighter borders as well), but is the military really the tool for this job? Armies are built to kill, not to police. Whenever you put soldiers in policing roles, things tend to spiral out of control quickly. When you boil it down, that rifle is a tool, just like a hammer, and if I'm an expert with a hammer, every problem is going to start looking like a nail.

I'd prefer to see them try with the police first. If that's too much, maybe instigate a training regimen and then use the NG. No sense sending those guys to a job they never trained for and then watching them get excoriated when things go south. Just my opinion.

Armies do far more than just kill people everything from snow removal by the National Guard , to construction by the Corps of Engineers , and also riot control and assisting the police and first responders such as the case with national emergencies like earthquakes and fires.

The only thing is the military is supposed to be subservient to the civilian authorities here in the US, so they wouldn't really be in charge but rather just an extra set of hands at the direction of civilian authorities.

-President-elect Donald Trump confirmed on Truth Social early Monday morning that his incoming administration will declare a national emergency and use military resources to implement a mass deportation of illegal immigrants. The confirmation was made in response to an earlier post by Tom Fitton, journalist and president of Judicial Watch.
The national emergency will be caused by Trump doing this violent deportation plan.
GOOD NEWS: Reports are the incoming @RealDonaldTrump administration prepared to declare a national emergency and will use military assets to reverse the Biden invasion through a mass deportation program,” Fitton posted. --

Military assets?
How are they going to pull this off and not cause a massive disruption to American life? Is it a bluff? Is this just a ruse that will motivate migrants to leave voluntarily? I can't see Trump pulling off anything of this scale.

What specific functions do you see the
military providing to deport illegals?

Be a traitor. It's apparently what you do best givin how you love the illegals here. It's only a police state if it abuses its citizens, but I wouldn't expect your definition of it to match mine.
You're already calling citizens who believe in due process, the Constitution, and humanitarian treatment of migrants traitors. That's not true at all. It suggests you know your side is morally flawed but you have to vilify any criticism to an extreme level.

How long before you justify arresting citizens for protesting the legally dubious actions of the Trump administration? Will the ends justify the means? That worked in Germany in the 1930-40's. Where is the moral decency among you MAGAs? It's sad to see how you fall in line to a criminal president's ideas. Will there ever be a line you won't cross?

@Twilight Hue , if the military is used to round up migrants, and there are legal challenges to these actions, should the federal government stop the round up of migrants until the legal issues are resolved in the courts? Or do you want the federal government to ignoore court rulings and do whatever it wants?

If the military is rounding up migrants, and some migrants are running away, should the military be allowed to shoot them in the back?

Should Trump authorize the military to search anyone's home without a warrant and search for migrants?

I'd rather see modern, 21st century technology getting utilized tonl watch the boarder. It's inappropriate to use the military, the cops are too deadly and cannot be trusted, but it's not hard to improve monitoring the boarder amd do it without expensive technology that was swell when the vikings where invading France and England and elsewhere.

If Trump has a vestige of common sense left he will already be realizing that he has bitten off more than he can chew with this. He has to at least appear to be deporting people as so much of his election rhetoric focused on it, but now he's actually going to be in a position to implement his plans he must realize that he stands to lose more support than to gain it if he goes too far. What he will do remains to be seen. I'm betting on deporting a few then blaming Biden for not being able to complete it. Maybe he will rely on his supporters to explain it all away as usual.

The military won't be doing it alone as will be under the direction of civilian authorities plus an order of deportation will allow warrantless arrest and searches of illegal aliens by authorities.

According to Trump, "if you win, you'll have the largest deportation operation in history, starting at noon on January 21."

About the Video

On May 1, 1517 — now referred to as Evil May Day — riots broke out in London as a response to an influx of immigrant workers. Eighty years later, a play was written that includes some of these events. The play, called Sir Thomas More, wasn't published or performed at the time, quite possibly because it was censored. This speech from the play is delivered to the rampaging crowd by Thomas More, who was sheriff of London at the time. Thomas More asks the rioters to imagine themselves in the shoes of the immigrants they're attacking. The manuscript shown in the video is an original version of the speech and was very likely written by William Shakespeare.

Transcript of the Video

Grant them removed, and grant that this your noise
Hath chid down all the majesty of England;
Imagine that you see the wretched strangers,
Their babies at their backs and their poor luggage,
Plodding to the ports and coasts for transportation,
And that you sit as kings in your desires,
Authority quite silent by your brawl,
And you in ruff of your opinions clothed;
What had you got? I’ll tell you: you had taught
How insolence and strong hand should prevail,
How order should be quelled; and by this pattern
Not one of you should live an agèd man,
For other ruffians, as their fancies wrought,
With self same hand, self reasons, and self right,
Would shark on you, and men like ravenous fishes
Would feed on one another.
[...]
Say now the king,
As he is clement if th’offender mourn,
Should so much come too short of your great trespass
As but to banish you, whither would you go?
What country, by the nature of your error,
Should give you harbor? Go you to France or Flanders,
To any German province, to Spain or Portugal,
Nay, anywhere that not adheres to England,
Why, you must needs be strangers: would you be pleased
To find a nation of such barbarous temper,
That, breaking out in hideous violence,
Would not afford you an abode on earth,
Whet their detested knives against your throats,
Spurn you like dogs, and like as if that God
Owed not nor made not you, nor that the elements
Were not all appropriate to your comforts,
But chartered unto them, what would you think
To be thus used? This is the strangers’ case;
And this your mountainish inhumanity.

Military assets?
And that's "good news"? I'd hate to see what the "bad news" is.
