Incorruptable Catholic Saints

FFH

Veteran Member
I am simply in awe of these saints...

The one which pulls at my heart strings the most is Bernadette Soubirous of Lourdes....

My last name is French as is my wife's...

France is such a peaceful place, at least to me it seemed that way. Wen my wife and I visited France a couple of times, we both felt a really good feeling there and my wife did not want to leave. We nearly did not make it back and ditched our tour in France to enjoy that place for a little longer....

She (Bernadette) looks so at peace here. She died in 1870 and her body was later exhumed and found undecayed. A witness for all to see, displaying the unlimited powers of God or just a good fake ???

Do you have any evidence of this being a fake ???

Do you believe any of these incorruptable bodies of these Catholic saints are fakes ???

I believe they are real undecayed bodies, especially Bernadette of Lourdes...

I feel it strongly but can we prove it ??? Is not the body enough proof ??????

Burnadette was a Marian visionary of Lourdes, from 1858 to 1870, from age 14 to 26 at which time she died and was buried and later her body was exhumed and found perfectly preserved and remains, to this day, on display.

She's also shown here briefly at the beginning of this video.

Yeah. The racial riots a few years back were wonderful.

Sorry. Due to my limited knowledge, that was the only piece of your post I could debate (and this is in a debate forum).

Well we went there in the early 90's.

France is extremely clean and peaceful normally...

Would love to live there...

Um, FFH, what difference does it make if their bodies are uncorrupted?

I vaguely recall an old history prof of mine mentioning they interred Lincoln and the only thing was a little spot of mold on his tie, but I wouldn't ascribe any holiness to him on account of that.

Are you saying Lincoln's body has also not decayed ??? Do you know something we don't ??? Show me the undecayed body of Lincoln today on display for all to see, as these Catholic saint's uncorrupted bodies are freely on display for all to see.

Some of these Catholic saints are 500 years old and still preserved, no decay...

Is that not a miracle ???

What body does not decay in 500 years ???

If Lincoln's body and clothes have not decayed, then is that not also a miracle ???

Yes, I believe that's what I wrote.

Ah, so since they went and reburied him, it doesn't matter.

OK, Doubting Thomas.

What body does not decay in 500 years ???

One that has been protected from the workings of anaerobic bacteria for starters.

Look, FFH, if you gave me a body I am capable of making it undecayed for 500 years too. That won't make the person a saint, sorry. It just means the bacteria have no way to do their job.

If Lincoln's body and clothes have not decayed, then is that not also a miracle ???

A miracle meaning what?

Personally, I consider it a miracle that I'm able to post on RF.

Yes, I'm serious.

My jaw sort of dropped to the floor, when I found out this Marian visionary's body was on disply undecayed...

Is this not a miracle ???

She was 26 years old when she died and is perfectly preserved, miraculously, after exhuming her body from the grave/earth...

So what about the Buddhist and Hindus that it happened to? Is it a miracle with them as well? Or is it only the Christians that it can be a miracle to? Why only Catholics though? Why couldn't other Christian faiths have something like this? Perhaps if we dug up Joseph Smith he would be like this and it would be proclaimed a miracle and everyone would join our church.

For one thing, to prove to the world that these were true saints of God, who performed miracles, spoke with heavenly messengers and did countless good for others..

Each saint must perform 3 verifiable miracles or more to be called saints, many performed hundreds, one even raised 40 people from the dead, according to the info on the videos I've provided in the opening post...

I've just been focusing on Bernadette, because I've been studying Marian visionaries, those who have communicated with Mary and have written down her messages, as is being currently done in Medjugorje, Bosnia. See my other thread about the 6 visionaries of Medjugorje..

Rent the video "Song of Bernadette," which gives a good account of all the good this girl did to promote peace in France...

She accomplished so much in just 12 years, age 14 to 26, to bring peace to France...which I felt there when touring through that wonderful/beautiful country. It's lovely there, that's the only way I can describe it...

Like I said, FFH, I can preserve a body like that too, but it wouldn't make the person a saint. So from where I'm sitting, it's a curiousity, but I'm not sure it proves that much.

Thanks, I know the procedure well. My husband's family is Catholic and there are some theological heavy hitters among them.

And indeed, I would consider the lives of the saints the real proof of sainthood.

Wow, well what can I say, he's missing a nose though, it seems, none of these saints have decayed at all, perfectly preserved as if they were still alive...

But has anyone preserved a body like this for 130 years or more ????

Do you have any photos of a body preserved as well as this one ???

She was buried and then dug up and found undecayed...

Show me a photo this perfect, who has been dead for over 130 years. She died in 1870..

Cool, my wife was also Catholic, grew up in Mass.

And indeed, I would consider the lives of the saints the real proof of sainthood.
Right but if one wanted proof that this woman was really a saint, would this not seal the deal to anyone examining her life, for instance an atheist ???

Who has ever been able to preserve a body as well as this one represented in the miraculously preserved body of Bernadette Soubirous of Lourdes, France..

Rent this video, it's very very good... I enjoyed it quite a bit..and you or someone else reading this thread might also want to see it....just to get a better understanding of what she was all about..

She did much good for France..as did Joan of Arc (Maid of Loraine)

Song of Bernadette

Joan of Arc (Moya brenna) - Change my world

These are two really must see movies...very uplifting/inspiring..

These two movies give me chills...

OK, Doubting Thomas.
How long was he observed undecayed, before they buried him, and has anyone seen his undecayed body since being buried...

One that has been protected from the workings of anaerobic bacteria for starters.
Bernadette was buried and her body exhumed and found untouched/undecayed in the slightest. This is a definite miracle no question about it...

Look, FFH, if you gave me a body I am capable of making it undecayed for 500 years too. That won't make the person a saint, sorry. It just means the bacteria have no way to do their job.
Okay fair enough, but that still does not explain Burnadette's body being buried and untouched/undecayed in any way...

This is the only one I have researched and everything adds up to nothing less than a miracle.

I haven't researched the other's on display. Is it possible to preserve a body for 500 years as perfectly as many of these saints appear, clearly displayed for all to see ????

A miracle meaning what?
Anything out of the ordinary processes and/or experiences of this mortal life...

Personally, I consider it a miracle that I'm able to post on RF.
That may be so, if you for instance had cancer and then it miraculously disappeared and your life spared...

But just being alive is nothing out of the ordinary...

A body that does not decay and still has a normal flesh color, no grey tones, is a miracle.

Are you aware that she's coated in wax? You can't see any of her actual flesh.

I worry about the photograph.
Nails and hair grow after death...
And her nails are neat and freshly painted.
I thought nail varnish was newer than that.
Even her face cloth looks freshly ironed.

You still keep dancing around my question for the most part. :(

Right but if one wanted proof that this woman was really a saint, would this not seal the deal to anyone examining her life, for instance an atheist ???

I would find her life sufficient.

Seriously FFH, and by no means do I mean anything disparaging by this question, but rather I just want to extend your logic to your own religion so you might see where I'm coming from.

If there are no well-preserved bodies of the unusually righteous among the LDS, would that imply that somehow the "Saints" are less "Saintly" than the Catholics or that their religion must have more to it than yours?

This is one of the things I find troubling about your approach here.
