Yeah the religious world can get quite real inside the mind.
I should know as I was a Christian and I know exactly where those types of thoughts come from and how they affect you like you're in some inescapable zombie trance or something where you have the complete inability to see the real actual world around you.

Yes, we are different from other animals but we are also part of the same whole. I think our purpose is determined by our human nature, natural laws and maybe also personal destiny. We are a social and rational animal. So our purpose is to socialize, communicate, use our reason, discern what is good and contribute to harmony of the whole. There is also a personal purpose connected to someone's personal destiny, duties, abilities, interests ...
