Intelligence First

Thief

Rogue Theologian
For a long time now....when discussing evolution....
I always say...God did it.

And when discussing creation and chaos....God did it.

Here is something that came up under another thread....I quote myself.

"Evolution works which way?
First the mutation and the chaos of nature sorts them out?
Or....
First the intelligence and the body adapts...genetically?

Careful...

If you set intelligence first.....
God did it."

No doubt that discussion will end badly.....why?

Because the spirit that we are...life in general....is more than chemistry.
And it seems the two sides...evolution VERSUS creation is a bogus stance.

Not up for theology?...the possibility of Something greater than you?

I'm up for anything we have a need to explain.
If we ever find any evidence for a god... I'll bow down and kiss his ***.
Untill that time.... he can kiss mine.

You claim to be 'all-knowing'?

Are you following me around the forum?
Isn't there a 'rule' about that?

And this is not about 'proving' God.

Which is first...intelligence or chemistry?
This is about choice.

true it is a bogus arguement

and one we teach to our children to further their education

Since there is ample evidence that intelligence is nothing more than an emergent property of chemistry, I would have to say chemistry comes first.

Poor choice.
It speaks nothing the purpose or direction of your life...other than the grave.
If chemistry is all that you are....
then your discussion ends when you do.
Dust you are dust you will be.

Yes. That is the rational standpoint and cannot be argued against using any verified evidence. What is the problem?

Besides, the chemistry is there to process information. Extracting that information is not theoretically impossible, and we have become immensely good at manipulating information over the last decade. We will only become better as time goes on.

And all such effort is terminal.

What you are not approaching is intelligence and the body have a relation....but not each one is identical.
The lack of 'identity' is the problem.

Your collection of information is different than mine.
To what end?
An individual.
You are unique...on purpose.

Besides....if information is totally physical....
then the tree of knowledge could actually ...be real.
Learn good and evil...in a fruit?

Survival. The brain is there, fundamentally, to make sure the genes survive.

Have you ever checked the density of modern memory? I could fit Wikipedia in an apple. (Though getting it into your head requires theoretical, rather than practical, technology.)

Come on...survival of chemistry...for the sake of chemistry?

Which atomic structure is your god?
Or maybe you get off on numbers.

Either way...it's terminal....no hope of continuance.

And no rational for the existence of Man.

And here we get to the real reason for your beliefs....
The fear of death!
Nobody likes the idea that they will die one day, but the same idea is what makes life so special.
The whole concept of an afterlife takes away from the importance of this life. The one life that we know is real.
This is your one time to shine... dont waste it.
