‘An Iranian cleric has called on followers to “kill” an award-winning journalist and women’s rights campaigner after she challenged the country’s ban on women cycling.

Masih Alinejad, who lives in exile in the United States, posted a video to Twitter in which the unnamed cleric insisted she should be punished for apostasy – the rejection or renunciation of a religious faith.

“You’ve seen accursed Masih Alinejad and her insult to Saint Zeinab,” he said.

“How do you think we should punish this accursed hooligan?

“She should be punished for apostasy. This accursed person should be punished for apostasy.

“If no-one can kill her, she should at least lead an underground life.’

But Masih Alinejad is not worth taking too much notice of, imo.
She lives in the USA, a more secure situation than her family still living in Iran, and then she shouts her mouth off to the world, criticizing the Iranian government and Islam, knowing that this could (and has!) put her family members in to danger.

How's that for nil integrity, eh?

She lives in the USA, a more secure situation than her family still living in Iran, and then she shouts her mouth off to the world, criticizing the Iranian government and Islam, knowing that this could (and has!) put her family members in to danger.

No surprise here. Many of the muslim nations have nutters, some even in power. Islam has many cult leaders.

Islam in the Middle East and the far east still has to go through a Reformation, and that will only happen once those places grow economically and socially, as a lot of the nutters are a result of the ignorance in those communities.

Sorry we've already had Salafism and ISIS, don't need more of that. What we actually need is for Islam to go back to it's roots instead of this Modernism it's been under in the past 200 years.
The Islam of 300 years ago was not the Islam following the fall of the Ottomans (despite their flaws).
And as for Shi'ism, well the Shi'ism of modern Iran is fake with no resemblance to the Gnostic tradition of historic Shi'ism. Babism (the occult movement that spawned the Baha'i's afterwards) basically killed Shi'ism and caused Shi'ites to start acting like Sunnis. If they accepted The Bab, then the mystical fire would have been lit. But instead they went the other way, and became basically just alternate-Sunnis, which is a parody of what Shi'ism actually was (again, Gnostic).

We need Islam to go back to the Sunnah and Ahlulbayt, that is what.

We don't need more reforms, the world is sick enough of terrorism. And Salafism has benefited nobody mate.

What you're asking to 'reform' is modernist (such as Iranian Shi'ism, reactionary to Babism; 180 degrees different to prior to Babism) and reformist (such as Salafi/Wahhabi Saudi) Islam, not classical (Sunnah/Ahlulbayt, and 11th century high-intellectual) Islam.

Oh yes.....
And also, Masih Alinejad is a Baha'i sympathiser who is pushing her reputation as a journalist as hard as possible. She doesn't seem to care for the safety of women in Iran when she exhorts them to caste off their hijabs, that's an incitement to commit acts which could put women in severe danger there.

Saudi Arabia ended the bicycle ban for women a couple of years back. Indonesia still bans women cyclists. But times are changing, and some european bans on women straddling bikes and scooters still existed in my lifetime and I still remember girls riding motorcycles side-saddle through Barcelona.

Let's give Iran time to drag itself in to the 21st century, but I don't take notice of careless journalists who are quite prepared to put women in Iran in danger with their dangerous suggestions.

b) women are discouraged from riding bicycles.
