Is a prostitute and one-night stand the same?

ok, I can agree with this in such cases - ie: something seriously wrong, for sure.
but how about cases which are less clear?
And in these cases I don't see an inner conscience telling them that it is wrong.

this is why Jesus said not to be judging others. Its not within out capability to see into a persons heart and mind and conscience. Only God can do that because he created them. So we just have to leave it in Gods capable hands and worry about ourselves.

But i can tell you this, the way your conscience works is no different to the way any other persons conscience works. We are constantly judging situations and judging our own actions (or the actions of others) because our conscience is designed to do that. It is the reason why Adam hid himself from God after he disobeyed Gods command. His own conscience made him feel ashamed of himself....so he tried to hide and put the blame for his actions elsewhere. Thats exactly the same thing we all do.

There are many examples of Biblical morality with which many people these days simply do not agree with.

not agreeing with a bible moral will not make one immune from judgement. We are basically being judged on how we respond to two things...

1. Our attitude towards Gods authority on setting moral standards.
and
2. Our willingness to live in harmony with our moral conscience.

If we are defiant in our opposition to Gods moral laws, we are seeking to establish our own moral law. A person who does this are in effect rejecting Gods authority on such matters. We know what the punishment for rejecting Gods authority is...it was death for Adam and it is death for us.

On the other hand, if we accept Gods moral laws and try our best to live by them, even though we may fail at times, we will be judged as a righteous person for the reason that we have accepted that Gods moral laws are the benchmark for us and we accept that he is the ultimate authority.

but the same could easily be said with a prostitute.

In this case, the hunting game is still active. The customer has to 'find' a girl whether it be on a street corner, by cruising around in his car or by going to certain types of bar. It is still a ritual and , is exactly the same in a psycho-social sense.

The thrill of the chase still exists here.

..or he can "find" her (or better - get her) just by picking up his phone and calling his usual number.

I am sorry but I genuinely can't see how can this be compared to the experience, when you are simply seducing (and not offering her a wage) particular woman.

I find the solution likely lies in the fact that it's hard to make a blanket statement about what something is like for everybody every time. Maybe for some people, the experience of a one-night-stand and paying for sex is very similar. Maybe for someone else, the experience is very different. And maybe for some people, the experience is similar on one occasion, but different on another.

with most men there is a kind of 'conquest' type psychology going on when it comes to reproduction (or pseudo-reproduction). This is built into the DNA.

so when one performs with a woman , this programming is lit up - thus it makes no difference how the act came about - paying or not paying is irrelevant to this natural computer system.

So the man is satisfied regardless. The only difference here would be cultural conditioning whereby a man feels that he must somehow 'earn' a success through looks or charm. But this is merely a sham.

hello and greetings:)

now, would you say though that if it was a one nighter that you knew would never be more than this, then this would be the same as paying for it? (in a psychological sense).

Just trying to get the hang of the multiquote thing, but in response to martin no, it's not the same as paying for it. I agree with what Falv is saying here - the experience is very different for the different people that engage in one night stands. martin you seem determined to say that it has to be the same for everyone but I don't see why that must follow. Again as Falv has said perhaps for some they might view it the same, I certainly wouldn't and see no reason for anyone to view it that way either. A one night stand is not a mercenary commercial transaction - it can be and often is a shared intimacy that is fun and enjoyable for both parties.

I don't think they are the same thing. From the perspective of the male (assuming that the prostitute is the female, which is more common) the situation probably doesn't seem that different between a one night stand and paying for sex with a prostitute.

From the woman's perspective, however, I think is where the real difference can be seen. During a one night stand her perspective of the situation is the same as the man's, it is just a casual sexual encounter with little or no chance of any relationship obligations after. If the woman is a prostitute though, I think she would view the whole situation in a drastically different manner. It is a business exchange pure and simple. She is selling a service for monetary gain and may not even get any pleasure from the situation other than the pleasure of earning some money.

Morally it may seem like the same thing to some people, but morals are all relative.

ok, that is fair enough - but which one is immoral, if any -

one night stand, or paying from it, from either perspective?
