Is anyone here actually a "good person"?

Exactly what do you feel I haven't addressed?

Well, let's start with some very basic questions for you shall we? Follow these through and see where it leads:

Do you believe god is omniscient? Does he know all? Past, present and future?

Do you believe that god created mankind?

Do you believe that no one is "good" enough to live up to the rules established by god?

What is required or desired by god in order to not be punished for failing to meet his expectations?

What happens if you don't meet his requirements or his expectations?

Answer these and I'll get back to you.

I've answered all these things except number one. Yes I believe God is omniscient. Predictably you'll say "well if God knows we were going to screw up why did he put us in that position in the first place?" I don't know the answer to that. I've got another exercise. Go through those questions and really think about my past responses. If you do that you should be able to draw from what I said my answers to your above questions.

I wanted you to outright answer each one so there could not be any accusation of me presuming anything. But, if you'd like me to fill in your answers, fine.

Now, you say you don't know why god would create us and create rules he would know full well we couldn't live up to. You can't even imagine why he would do that? You don't see the flaw here at all?

If god is omniscient, then he knows what we will do before we even do. He knows that humanity can't live up to his rules. He even knows, before we are even born, whether or not we will believe in him. If he then creates humanity, even allows one person to be born knowing that they will deny him, then he WANTS us to fail and he wants to punish us. Why would he put us here DESIGNED to fail? THINK for a bit on it. You can only answer these questions one of two ways. Either the god in question has a sadistic streak in his big ego because he sets us up to fail and he will punish us for failing unless we worship him and kowtow to him, OR the god in question makes no sense at all and does not exist.

Well, I don't think anybody is really solid one way or the other. I believe that we each have great potential to be good or evil, and that we often end up using our agency both ways. I'm much less concerned with being a "good person" than I am with being a better person every day.
